I couldn't tell you why it is like that for women. But I guess our organs are just different. In that we may not even know when we're slightly aroused because our parts are mostly all internal and discharging fluids - along with the fact our bodies act on this cycle where one day we're ovulating, the next day we have high estrogen and the next day high androgen. But we do notice strong arousal. And we notice what sets off that strong arousal. Some research says that sex is a reflex in the brain - rub against someone on the dance floor and feel arousal but only if you feel safe, if it's been a nice day if, if, if. I think women have those ifs come up a lot more. We are more picky, have more parameters, and if something does not fit it can disrupt the entire thing. We lose interest. Well cycles make us feel differently depending on the day because we cycle through hormone levels. During ovulation we can be easily aroused. When androgen is high we are less interested.

I guess slight arousal is like a eye floaters. It's a tiny blip on the radar. A small reaction that disappears as soon as you try to focus on it. Sometimes I catch those reactions and zero in on them, they kind of just fade away once I rationalize them.

Romance and arousal are different. I would say romance is the love aspect. Love that affects your heart doesn't immediately translate into wanting to get in bed. So when I feel romantic it's more like an emotional response than a physical one. I don't recall if romance ever aroused me. I do notice arousal at other times but it was happening without me paying attention.
