Companies intentionally gender products because they can charge more.
It's a way to circumvent "label readers" because if they open the product to too wide of a market it raises the probability that people will see their product is not worth the money based on the ingredients. Even then by gendering a product people put more trust in the product being the correct one for them and are more likely to spend more for the same thing that isn't gendered.
I'm sure there's also about a thousand other market research and psychology studies done on it, but gendering products makes money, it doesn't remove market share at all.

Some products have reasons to be gendered, mostly things like skin/hair products.

Products like this shouldnt be banned because a man could easily buy and use women's products if they wanted, and a woman could buy men's products if she wanted to.
