I should have been more general by saying there are two and only two major sex hormones categories: androgens and estrogen.
Testosterone happens to be the most important androgen and estradiol is the most important estrogen.

LH and FSH aren't even steroid hormones, they are totally not sex hormones. Among other things, they regulate hormones produced by the gonads, so either androgens or estrogens, which brings me back to my point.

Sex is not directly influeced by DNA in the strictest sense, sure, due to the nature of DNA as a storage device.
However, to say that DNA has no bearing on biological sex is wrong.

Hence, again, unless you have a very rare disorder, your sex is likely understood by the binary scientific understanding. Intersex is 'technically' it's own sex, but it a mutation that can't reproduce or spread it's genetics without modern procedures (surrogates, or other stuff). You misunderstand the point of being trans then. I started my transition and taking hormones at 17, I'm 25 now. I've had a number of surgeries and in general have been pretty lucky with genetics regarding shoulders and height. I look and sound like a female, when I go out in public everybody sees me as a woman. You'd nervously be afraid to look me in the eyes like you do with every women. I still have my dick because I think SRS is a brutal and all around pointless procedure, but nobody but my boyfriend and doctor needs to know what genitals I have.

I actually use female washrooms all the time, you know why? Because I go in the stall, sit down, and nobody knows or cares what kind of hole I piss out of. Maybe some, definitely some. Especially early on. I was kind of like that when I was 17 and starting my transition. It didn't set me off but it did sting. Early transitioners especially are insecure and partly due to their body going through what is basically a second puberty they can be overly emotional. I've grown numb to it over time and these days it pretty much never happens. I'm 8 years on HRT and I live totally stealth. I look kind of like a dyke, my hair is fairly short and I've had it cut into a pixie more than once. I sometimes go out with no makeup, often with very little. And I usually dress pretty boyish. So there are very rare times somebody calls me sir, and they either look embarrassed or correct themselves as soon as they hear me speak.

A rule I followed when I was still kind of in my transition, and a rule I think all trannies should follow but many don't to their own detriment, is to not go outside in girlmode until your boymode fails every time. I can dress as manly as possible and most people will not call me sir, when I reached that point I started going out in my girlmode. Because I knew it would pass completely. If you go out as a girl but don't look like a girl, do not go out as a girl. Other than RLE there's no excuse for going outside without passing.

Yeah, I get that. Impatience is a big part of it. It's figuratively and literally the death of a lot of trannies. Honestly the vast majority of people who start at a decent age pass, it just takes a lot of time and a lot of work. A lot of people give up hope too early and don't put in the required work.

Hell, just look at voice. Soooooo many trannies sound like gay guys or just straight up guys. Voice is like, one of the fastest things you can get changed. My voice was deep too. I had a passing female voice in a year, my boobs didn't even finish growing in that time. The catch? It takes daily practice. A lot of people just skimp out on the work because it's "too hard". It's not even difficult work, though early on it was certainly uncomfortable. But it's avoided so much to the point that a lot of people don't even know any trannies voice CAN pass completely.

I've always found it nuts how one of the quickest, and cheapest parts of a transition, that ends up being one of the most important parts of passing, is avoided by sooooo many people.
