as long as people are stupid enough to fall for it, why not?

Pictures are not so deceiving that you cannot get at least a decent idea of how well someone does or does not pass from one or two of them. If a particular picture is taken at an obviously favorable angle, you can request more. Since we cannot meet IRL, and since we MUST have an idea of what the person looks like to make any judgments, a picture is the best option we have.
