although for someone who has likely experienced an immense deal of shame over her entire life with all this stuff, it's not surprising to not be able to fully understand your sexuality. who knows what it is exactly? i wonder myself if i was ever (/am) actually attracted to girls, or whether my apparent attraction to them was some kind of manifestation of agp and dysphoria. i still honestly don't know, and it's complicated by not knowing whether i like guys either because it's often confusing and conflicting. the takeaway is that this shit is not straightforward at all, i'm guessing in particular for trannies. being trans fucks with you so hard already, so given how it's pretty common for gay priests or politicians to go through a bunch of weird shit pretending to be straight and normal, i don't see how it's surprising that trannies could also have a hard time. being trans just adds another layer of fucked up to it. i mean as trans you're spending a lot of time and mental energy in essentially rebuilding your own self-concept (of course assuming you weren't lucky and transitioned young enough so that most of the shit doesn't actually affect you), so i don't think it should be surprising that it also might take a lot of time and energy to tie that self-concept into relationships with others.

i apologize for not using cait's pronouns.
it honestly didn't even occur to me until after i had posted it.
i suppose i still think of her as the athlete that i had a crush on.
i was 12 when he won all those gold medals and i found looking at his body on my wheaties box every morning intoxicating.
i have watched every episode of 'i am cait' and it really made an impression on me.
before seeing it i assumed all trans people were drag queens and therefore gay men or lesbians dressing as the opposite sex.
i had no idea that many transwomen are attracted to women and i still find it somewhat shocking when i read the agp threads.
