I wonder why there are no American webcomics with the same work ethic as Asian webcomic artists. I mean, look at any nip, chink, or gook webcomics and they always update with at least 10 pages worth of content. There are some webcomics are literally update with 50 pages worth of content every week. And it's not like the webcomics lose quality due to the quantity -- they still have amazing art. Yet there's not a single American webcomic that does the same -- it's always one page a week.

Like, I'm not upset at any of these comics. I'm just wondering the majority of webcomics in Asia due this, but there isn't a single example of an American webcomic that updates close to their scale.

In highschool I dated a freshman as a junior, and I was a year older than my grade because I had to take a year off from highschool for mental health reasons.

But the author is only able to DO that and make webcomics as a full time gig because they raised 100K+ on Kickstarter after appearing on a webcomic reality TV show. persephone looks 12 in this comic and the narrative keeps on emphasizing how young and youthful and naiive and whatnot he is, and his character is so weirdly passive (and boring) and just lets everything in the plot happen to him with nothing more than the occasional furrowed brow of distress. that isn't even really consistent with my understanding of persephone as a mythological character, because when you see her character up close, she isn't distinctly submissive. she's relatively proactive, being a god and all

i think it's not just the art or even the subject matter alone that creeps me out in this comic, but how the characterization is bent in such a way as to avoid any and all conflict just to smoothly move on to the next vaguely-pedophilic sex scene. it would work (i guess) for a short doujin-like porn comic, but because it's so long and the prose gets so pretentious, it's like the author is deluding themself into thinking they're making some deep, poetic, romantic comic, when in the end it just makes the author look like they like to write pretentious poetry and lust after prepubescent boys.

it doesn't help that the characters are bland and there's nothing unique or particularly intriguing about the plot. you hear about a god in the field update and you don't think, "wow, i want to read what happens next, and what interesting twists and interpretations this rendition of greek myth has," you think, "time for more Twink With Stockholm's! with a sprinkling of hamfisted themes and symbols. i wonder if the plot will develop by persephone's arms getting a bit more black with the next sex scene, as opposed to his moral corruption being shown more subtly and skillfully, like with nuanced changes to his behavior or the personality that he doesn't have."

i just wish the author and fans would suck it up and admit that they're writing/reading a porn comic instead of pretending it's the most beautiful and well-written gay webcomic on the planet.

As with most artists, especially in a lot of the webcomics we read here (e.g. Kaito Shuno, i.e. probably not bridges), style and skill of an individual artist can change over time. Whether it's positive from experience or schooling, or goes to the dumpster from lack of interest in their work, this can cause some comics to look nothing in their most recent updates like they did on page one. In this case, Friends till Death got noticeably better as time progressed, and each page seems to have more attention to detail on the characters and scenery.

Anyways, since you apparently lack the attention span to simply skim through the comic more than a few pages, the image you're looking for can be located on Page 42 of Part II.

And if you still find that too difficult, I can provide a link to said page only because I enjoy the comic and wish for other people to read it as well.

German student anon here, I don't recommend trying to translate full sentences. It never works well enough to be comprehensible. I use Google translate for individual words and phrases, dict.cc for when I want alternate definitions that fit better but Google translate won't provide me with, and linguee for slang and colloquial meanings. Once I know all the words, I can use my knowledge of German syntax to make coherent sentences.

But I've stopped translating as of late. My classes are back in session and I found myself a new boyfriend, so I've had no free time to translate. If German anon posts translation beyond where I've read I'll probably read his version, but I don't have time for the longer process of translation.

So, I'm the guy who first brought the comic up. The English version as found in the pastebin was dead, and I came here looking for a German to download the German language version (which is still updated frequently) that required a German ID for age verification. The very nice German anon who downloaded them for me has been working on translating them for everyone, and separately I've been reading and translating them for my personal use. I no longer have time to translate, but my translations were pretty basic. German anon is (to my knowledge) still working on translation.

The main issue isn't the translation or translation speed, it's the really damn time-consuming task of editing every single page.
I've gone back and edited all the pages I had already done with >>7596789 font to get rid of Comic Sans MS.

I'm close to being done with Chapter (View) 5, the one where the official Translation stopped. View 5 has 77 pages and it stopped being translated at page 19.

I aim to be done with View 5 and 6 (Only 6 pages.) this weekend.

A thing I thought about doing:
Go through the entire comic and translate it in script-form for each page.
Shouldn't take much longer than reading did, one evening, maybe two, at most.

The obvious positive sides would be:
If life would fuck me up in such a way that I won't be able to finish the translation and editing anytime soon (Might happen sometime soon, dying relatives and all that. That would take a few days, possibly weeks out of my time for this.), someone else can take over editing it all or people can just read comic and english-translation-script side by side.

I would simply write it all down in a pastebin and go back to editing the actual comic afterwards. You people could already read the rest, even if it would be a bit bothersome while you wait for the finished product. Or edit the pages yourself whenever you feel deadbored.

Hey, the rando German anon from before. As I said, typesetting (that's the process of putting text into place so it looks neat and tidy and cleaning (the process of going over the translated text and making sure it's all in order, fixing any eventual typesetting and translation errors) is not exactly easy, but I've done it before for newspapers and online magazines.

I've talked to people who do it for Manga, so I don't think it should be much of a problem for me.

My offer was mainly that you could translate the script, then send it to me, and I could do the typesetting and cleaning. I doubt that we need an editor since we would have us both for translating.

So yeah, I would be down to give you my email so you could send me the scripts and then I would get to work.

Unfortunately, the process of typesetting is arduous. The only way to do it faster is to get better at it.
