There's a set of muscles there that you need to train. With enough practice, you'll be able to do it without holding it up. Try the swallowing trick to start with. Your voice box should stay up as long as you don't finish the motion of swallowing. Keep doing that and those muscles will get stronger.

How the fuck do you get a feminine voice in the first place?

My body is pretty effeminate but my voice sounds like the complete opposite.

Place one hand on your bare sternum and speak in your boy voice. You should feel quite a bit of vibrations from your chest. Keep one hand on your sternum. With your other hand place a couple of fingers on your lower adam's apple. You're not feeling for the crest at the top but rather this little almost ball shaped thing at the bottom. If you can't find it just pay attention to how your lower adam's apple moves when you speak. Do not attempt to force your adam's apple into any position using your hand's as that defeats the purpose of muscle training. Now try speaking in a way that minimizes the amount of vibrations you feel in your chest. You should naturally end up using a higher pitched voice and your adam's apple should move up.

At first you'll probably not be able to speak above a whisper and from there you'll move on to a raspy but feminine sounding voice that will smooth outh with practice. In my case with enough practice I was eventually able to 'pop' my larynx into place but uttering a specific phrase and I'm hoping that this new position for my larynx will become natural over time.

Relax muscles, cough, see if there are certain phrases which will naturally cause it drift lower. I'm finding that even my male voice has become higher over time and it's likely it will never sound quite the same again.

You put your hand on your sternum to feel for chest vibrations when you speak. When you change your voice to minimize these vibrations it should naturally increase in pitch. You put your fingers on your adam's apple so you can learn to associate its movement with changes in your speech. Basically they're just psych tricks to teach you how to use muscles you've never really consciously moved before.

One thing you can try is softly touching the back of your tongue to your top molars when you speak. Play around with how far back your tongue is also. Your voice might sound best with your tongue on your 2nd, 3rd, etc. molars. It's different for everybody.

I practice at work because I'm out so that's 40hrs a week but pretty much it's just like going as high as you can go without going to falsetto while doing hat thing with your larynx, and sorta playing around with where to "aim" your voice like through the nose, or from the back, etc although eventually you won't want to talk at your highest pitch just at what feels comfortable
