I've considered running for office myself, but I'm poor and I have a pretty checkered past (shady family history, mental illness, illegal drug use, camwhoring, association with fringe political groups, a general lack of accomplishments). Combined with being gay and trans and openly polyamorous, I don't see my odds being too good. Oh and I'm also a racial minority with a foreign-sounding name, but I honestly see that as the least of my problems by far.

In Poland we had a transgender MP. She actually is a good politician with good rhetoric and a social activist who made a lot not only for trans people and LGBT groups, but for poor as well for example. My friend actually talked with her in person and she says she's very warm-hearted and nice. However, nearly everyone here hates her and claims that 'she only got to politics because she's a freak' and desperately tries to find some connections of her with the former communist system. Also the party she was running with made many mistakes and is now completely forgotten, and considering she doesn't support any major parties, she isn't likely to get back into the parliament.

I know I'm in the minority when I say this, but the less trans 'representation' the better. All this recent anti trans shit is the result of society being forced to accept trans people openly before its ready to. I've been out long enough to remember a time before the bathroom panic. If you passed you went in the restroom you wanted to and that was that. If you didn't you sometimes got a letter from your therapist explaining your condition and why you were where you were. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. But the main thing is the activism was much less visible. Nobody cared about trannies that much, but they didn't hate them the same way either. I think things were better that way, and I really miss the early-mid 2000s.
