If you pass, then pretty much any job is available to you, but because of the costs of being trans, you might want a job that pays better. Software/tech, even though it was originally the favored occupation for trannies because they're terrified of going outside, might not actually be a bad option if you have the skills.

Otherwise just get a job at Starbucks, idk. We haven't seen a picture of you, so we don't know how fucked you are.

I'm a femboy who has had years of hormones, so keep in mind I'm not trying to look like a girl, but I look feminized as hell and get asked if I'm a boy or a girl at least 5-20 times every time I do an assignment. Maybe someone in my "not passing as a boy or a girl" boat would be worse off when trying to pass as a female though. The fact I try to present as a male probably helps me a lot.

Either way the staff can't say shit because they'd get canned. Federal funding means even in a red as hell state their job is on the line if they discriminate in the slightest.

I had a terrible time in retail. Serving/waitressing is fucking awesome though. The pay is decent and mu regulars seem to love me for some reason.

Your problem is you are not differentiating them by age. Prior to 5th grade or so they aren't mentally competent enough to bully you over it. In fact I'd say around 3rd grade they rarely comment on it until they go past 11 years old or so. After that they are all little shits, all the way up to 18. They're little shits to anyone though so that's no surprise.

The little ones, k-2 or so, are only ever curious and never malicious. It's only past 5th grade that they become truly malicious, and sometimes even in 5th grade but it's rare enough to not be a real issue. Above that it's guaranteed shit.

I work in retail but we all actually like each other and spend plenty of time talking about whatever. Customers were either super nice or total dickbags to me even before I started transition, that hasn't changed.

This. Most of my experience has been in retail and tech support/customer service stuff. The phone stuff helped me develop my voice; the retail my presentation (the best way for you to really figure out what presentations work is by observing other people and what they wear/do, and retail is about as visceral as it gets). The downside of these are that they don't pay for shit. Do retail while you're still young and getting your education, then go into management when you're grown up.

You could always get a job as a test subject at the U of I. I worked with some fucked up crazy bastard who moonlighted as a test subject for veterinarian medicine there.

From my country, mtF won't be hired for customer service like food because health concern.

There's an mtf in my mechanical engineering class and me and her were hired for the same co-op program during the summer and she's been doing just fine from the sounds of it. I'm just gay, not trans though.
We're in Canada so it might be a little different in the US. Engineering is still quite the sausage fest but we get more females in Canada compared to the US from what I've heard.

I tutor 7th graders and I'm in kinda the same boat (femboy long time on HRT), most of them never comment on it.

One time I did fill in for a group of 8th grade girls though and they questioned me a lot, but I wouldn't really call it malicious, just stuff like:

Loads of stuff like that. However I feel tutoring saves you from the shittier kids. For one, their parents can afford to have and care to have their kids get tutoring in the first place, that's one filter you've got. On top of that it's a smaller number of kids at once and a much smaller number throughout the day. In a middle or high school setting that's at least 120 or so different kids in a single day of work.

Another filter, I imagine you see the same kids repeatedly. Unless I do repeat jobs at the same school (and I often do nowadays), it's new kids every time. When they're used to you they will respect your teacher-ness more and not fuck around as much.

As a rule of thumb, the shittier the school i.e. the worse the students getting fed into it are, the worse they're going to behave in general, and the more likely they are to give me shit over being an androgynous faggot. Coupled with them not knowing me at all it's highly likely that I'll get shit from them. It's not even every class that will do it, just one or two shittier ones, but it's bad enough I refuse to do anything above 5th grade, except at this one k-8 charter school that has a bunch of rich kids who already know me very well considering I worked there for like 3 years.
