How do you deal with the fact that being gay or lesbian isnt "taboo" anymore?
You're seen by the majority of the population as normal, for some thats alright, but for others you cant deny that there was an attractive quality to the dangerousness or secretive aspect of being homo, and for those types i bet being celebrated, respected, or seen as just another subset of society who must settle down with partner and adopt a child etc must seem a little unpleasant.
you arent special anymore, you arent really taboo, you arent obscure, even trans people are being accepted and even defended by people in authority.
none of you seriously understand what its like to be hated by society, you might get shit from your family, beat up maybe, but no one is going to prosecute you for your attraction (unless you live in a saudi arabia), no one is going to send you to prison to be stabbed to death because you kissed someone of the same gender, nobody is going to monitor you or make you wear an ankle bracelet because you jerked off to gay/lesbian porn.
You went from being given electroshock therapy, chemical castration and jail time to "not getting to use the bathroom you want" and "people are still saying rude things to me" fucking come on, youre a joke. If you enjoy being the new "normal", great. But don't fucking act like you are a persecuted class of people, or your preferences are anything taboo, because you really aren't.
I don't give a fuck where you live or what your family is like, there is infinite support out there for you, for others there is nothing at all.

Being honest, the only thing that kinda sucks about it is that now when people find out I'm gay they start treating me as if I needed to be protected from everything. Every single silly thing I do gets me showered in compliments and "Your so brave!!1" like statements.
No one wants to disagree with me because they don't want to be seen as homophobes. Everybody keeps bringing my sexual life into conversation just to show how supportive and 2016 they are.
When someone makes a joke about lgbt people and I'm present, I can see how they look at me with fear, as if wanting me to know how sorry they are for being awful people, even if I'm laughing as well.
I don't want to receive special treatment. I want to be like everyone else.

I can understand being scared in a not so progressive place, but in modern "2016" cities around the typical groups of people, lgbt individuals arent exactly oppressed, more put on a pedestal than anything.
Some could say that this sort of thing is just what manipulative or attention seeking queers wanted, to be the center of attention, to be showered with "oh youre so brave!", to have all the fag hags ask for their fashion advice and all the cis males scared of offending them. To someone who wants to be treated like everyone else, being put on a pedestal over something as trivial as your sexuality isnt as fun
