Eh, if most people use it, it feels offensive. Tbqh, it's just like any other "offensive word". If a black man calls another black man "my bigger", that's socially acceptable. If a white man does it, it's not.

"Trannies should burn in hell" is obviously a transphobic statement, but not because of the word, because "transsexuals should burn in hell," is no less bad.
Same in the reverse, "trannies deserve equal rights"/"transsexuals deserve equal rights," no real change because it's all about the context and not the word.
So the word isn't offensive some of the time, it's just used in offensive contexts some of the time.
So are neutral words. "You don't deserve to live," is a pretty offensive thing to say and there's not an offensive buzzword to be found.
