How is being gay or lgbt in general in Russia?
Like living with savage animals.
Better hope there's a fence between you and them.
Although that goes for most straight people.

Bad! There have been stories of gangs using Grindr to meet up with gay men and assault them, poor buckets of urine on them, etc. I'm a lesbian, was there last summer and met some clearly closeted people, all very depressed. If you go to a therapist and you're a minor, it's illegal for the therapist to say that being LGBT is natural- like you can literally go to jail for "homosexual propaganda." More liberal people tend to be of the "don't ask don't tell, it's okay if you're gay but keep that entirely to yourself" opinion. The commonly used slang word for straight and gay (male) are "natural" and "pedo". I got pretty upset the first time I heard them used but the people around me couldn't even think of what I could take offense to. The words are so commonly used that they're seen as neutral/not having negative connotations by lots of people. There is a lesbian activist who adopted kids and eventually left Russia with her family because the government was threatening to seize them and send them back to live in an orphanage.
I am Russian and I visit in the summer and speak the language fluently and etc, but because I don't live there, my perspective is limited/flawed. I'm sure there are plenty of gay people living comfortably. Things are also muuuuch worse for gay men than for lesbians. I don't know anything about trans people in Russia, which I guess says something in and of itself.
It's lot like being in hell except you can die t b h

They do it with pedos though
It's been done to straight pedos as well
