It's a very cheesy movie, the experience is quite funny to be honest.
The transsexual is more of a guy in drag though, they say transexual for song reasons.
Aside from that the movie is just a very gay musical. All character eventually end up in drag lingerie with corsets and garterbelts (and all rl actors in front of the screen too, although what they do exactly depends of where you're seeing it).
Unless you sense some kind of malice from them, they probably realise the difference between the drag queen in the film and you since they've already interacted with you.
I'd say go with it, it's fun. Just remember to bring your stuff and don't be the last one to get out of the room or the actors will make you clean it up.
You can also go to the pub with the actors afterwards (you could where I saw it), they're usually very chill and open minded. Some may be here for the drag but most of them do it because it's fun.

dude, RHPS is THE BEST. I'm a bit of a stuffed shirt, but it is just so much fun and I wish to god they still did screenings in my town. Granted, I grew up watching it and it was a huge thing with my friends and I, so maybe it's weirder if you see it for the first time as an adult.

It's just gay/drag though. I think the only mention of transexual is in reference to Frank N Furter's home planet, which is called Transexual in the galaxy Transylvania. Because why the fuck not.

It was the 70s, remember. This kind of shit was more appreciated back then, when being outrageous was more of a liberating celebration. These days it's kinda just obnoxious.

The interactive part, basically there are people in costume acting alongside the movie, and there are cues in the film where people yell shit at the screen or throw props etc.
Honestly, it'll probably be really hard to follow the movie if you've never seen it, nevermind the audience participation. I've only been to one screening, but I couldn't hear shit, same case when I saw an interactive screening of The Room.
These kinds of screenings are more for fans who've seen the material so many times that yelling over it is part of the fun and doesn't matter, so it's not remotely a "go in fresh" kind of thing.
So I'd honestly recommend watching the movie ahead of time. The fact that doing so gives you the option to nope out ahead of time if you hate it is just a bonus.

Be forewarned, before the screening, they sometimes do 'virgin rituals', lighthearted hazing of people who've never seen the movie or attended a screening. Just don't put your hand up unless you're cool with being asked to blow a banana for sport in front of an audience.

Alright, I think I'll go. It sounds like it could be pretty fun. In theory I like really campy gay stuff, in practice I don't have any idea what I'm doing in that kinda scene. It didn't really exist in the rural conservative area I spent most of my life in.
