It's just a preference people have. It doesn't really deserve it's own flag or status as a sexual orientation.

Following from this, I'd say it's more an aspect of your actual sexuality. That isn't to say you should go around proclaiming yourself a demisexual, something you absolutely should not do.

It's not a sexual orientation, just like "slut" isn;t a sexual orientation.
