How is everyone measuring their shoulders in this thread?
>>
>>7106627
It's usually the biacromial width, I believe, which is the length between the outer ends of your shoulder blades. It doesn't take muscle or fat into consideration as a result.

I'm not sure, though. Anyone want to confirm or fill us in on this?

circumference or widths = the entire shoulder. saying shoulder but using biacromical is just a way to e-stat
>>
>>7106860
That's what qualifies as shoulder anon. That's what tailors and seamstresses use when they take shoulder measurements. You could do shoulder circumference I guess, but that's hard to do properly on your own.

we're not measuring clothes though, we're measuring people. what people see as shoulders is what matters. if you want to do biacromical, that's fine and gives some indication of how much shoulder is soft tissue and how much is bone, but there's no worth in it by itself
>>
>>7106899
In order to make clothing, you have to measure people... What is defined as a shoulder measurement is the biacromical width, shoulder circumference is something entirely different.
>>
>>7106959
for tailoring sure
when you're looking at someone's shoulders you don't notice their biacromial width, you notice their shoulder width
and yes i'm aware circumference is not the same as width
>>
>>7106985
biacromial width is shoulder width. The joint and arm aren't shoulders.
>>
>>7107006
This. When you look at someone's shoulders in real life, you see the widths of the shoulders + arms. The shoulders themselves are measured separately.
>>

>>7107064
when you see someone in real life you don't see their acromions. all you see is the entire shoulder. using biacromial width for "shoulder" is useful in tailoring because that's how you make shirts fit

>The human shoulder is made up of three bones: the clavicle (collarbone), the scapula (shoulder blade), and the humerus (upper arm bone) as well as associated muscles, ligaments and tendons.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoulder
The shoulder consists of the entire joint, which includes muscles such as the trapezius and deltoid.

it would be optimal if people gave both biacromial width and bideltoid width. as i'm tired of arguing over this, i hope that compromise is amenable to you

>>7109231

32D is correct.
I don't know where you guys are learning to measure bra sizes, but since something like 80% of women wear the wrong bra size I'm not even surprised.

Your band size is your underbust measurement, period. If your underbust is 32 then your band size is 32. The band is where most of your support is going to come from, so it needs to fit snugly. The tack/gore (the connecting piece between your boobs) should lie flat against your sternum. The band should fit and stay straight all the way around, it shouldn't ride up in the back even after prolonged wear. In a bra that fits, the straps won't dig into your shoulders because the support is coming from the band. Many places tell you to add several inches to the band size, but that is incorrect, they say this so that they don't have to manufacture or stock larger cup sizes - cheaper for them, worse fit for you.

For the cup size, every inch up from your band is a cup size. The best way to measure is to lean over so that everything is hanging down and you're not fighting gravity for an accurate measurement, and then measure your bust chest size that way. You want this measurement to be snug, but NOT squeezing.
>>
>>7109451
>32D
I must be measuring wrong somehow then. I measured it again and I got underbust 83 cm (32"), bust 92 cm (36") but I am literally flatchested. How can my cup be D?
>>
>>7109522
maybe your "boobs" are in your shoulder blades like mine
>>
>>7109526
Hmm, maybe. Could big shoulder blades skew the bust measurement?
>>
Does anyone know the average inter-ASIS (anterior superior iliac spine) distance for women and if it matters? Also the inter-PSIS (posterior spine) distance.
>>
>>7109451
You're retarded.

It depends on the brand how they do their band size.

Some go with a plain translation, from inch into band size, some add somewhere between 2-4 to their number.

Cup size is measured the exact same way throughout the entire world.
The 1" above bandsize only works if you add 4" to your bandsize, it's a "cheat sheet" type of thing, it isn't accurate once you non-traditional band size numbers.

It's 5" for an A cup, 4+1 = 5.
For each additional inch, you add one cup size, until around a D cup.

>>7109522
Because anon is delusional and want to feel like they have big boobs, even though they don't even have an A cup.
>>
>>7109546
I measured myself last night, my bust size is 32 to 33 inches and my underbust is 28 to 29 inches. According to your metric, I would have an A-cup, but when I've gone to a bra store and had myself measured, they told me I had a 32C. So what gives? Did I just lose weight since then? Or am I measuring wrong? Or is your metric BS?

(I'm probably just measuring wrong.)
>>
>>7109522
It could be that while your breasts lack volume (which is responsible for having the appearance of large breasts), they're 36" height wise. When breasts first develop, they usually grow up (or out, as the case may be) before rounding out. Maybe give it some time and see what happens.

>>7109570
There are two systems used for measuring bra size. The older version requires you to add +4 (if even) or +5 (if odd) to your underbust measurement. The modern version simply takes the underbust measurement as the band size.

According to http://www.brasize.com/band-size.html:
>The bra band size measuring method as described above is based on so called "modern bra sizing." Nearly all bra manufacturers use the modern bra sizing system today. But be aware that some manufacturers may still use the older "traditional bra sizing system" from the 1930s. To find your size in this older system, you need to add the number 4 to your measurement if it is an even number, and 5 if it is an odd number.

Anon isn't delusional, anon is a trans guy who would really, really rather have a flat chest than be stuck with 32Fs. I wore incorrectly sized bras for years when girlmodeing because I wouldn't admit I had a cup size larger than a C.

Yes, there IS variance between bra sizes - in a properly fitting bra, I can be a 32 or a 34, and a F or a G, depending on the bra. I recognize that clothes and manufacturers are weird like that. But measured the way I described will get someone the correct starting point.

I highly reccomend r/ABraThatFits on reddit for some very in-depth info for people looking for more information.

Trans girls might have some different measurements for bra fitting - but because I'm not a trans girl, I can't speak to that.
>>
>>7109672
So the store person decided to give some random girl a vanity size? My boobs fit into the cups, a B-cup is snug on me, there's no way I'd fit into an A. If anything, I'm a B instead of a C.
>>
>>7109695
That pic is probably a D cup, but that anon would place her as a H cup, or thereabouts.
That's also not a standard bra, that's one with more coverage than usual.

>I wore incorrectly sized bras for years when girlmodeing because I wouldn't admit I had a cup size larger than a C.
You probably bought too small bandsizes.

>I highly reccomend r/ABraThatFits
I've checked there, they have no clue, whatsoever, about bra sizing.

According to them, I'd be like a 65D or 60D, which is completely wrong.

>>7109715
>My boobs fit into the cups, a B-cup
Naturally, something smaller will fit into something bigger.

A large portion of your boobs SHOULD be visible while wearing a bra. Every time I see one of you post a bra picture, you're wearing cups that entirely cover your so called "boobs".

At this point, I think I have to call troll or bait.
The bra is a 28H. It says so right on the picture. It also is in fact a standard full cup bra. You may be used to demi or balconette bra lines.
>>
>>7109869
Then it's a vanity size, because that pic is of a D cup.

Do you think you can trust some conspiracy theory sub-reddit, just because it's on reddit and has a lot of posters?
That subreddit isn't legit, and they're using vanity sized articles to make themselves feel good.

I'm a 70AA, not a 60D.
To find a 60D you'd have to look at some petite store, or go into the childrens section... Not to mention, nothing of the cup would actually touch my flat chest.

>>
>>7109897
It's not a vanity size. It's from Panache. Again, noted directly on the image.

Why is it so difficult for you to consider that you could be wearing the wrong size? 70AA and 60D are actually very close in size. You know how sister sizes work, correct?

Converting to UK sizing, because that's standard for high quality and specialty bras. You're currently wearing a 32A. The guide puts you in a 28D. A 32A & 28C are sister sizes - meaning they have the same volume cups. This means that the size you have remeasured for is only ONE cup size off from what you are currently wearing, just with a much smaller band size.
>>
>>7109848
>A large portion of your boobs SHOULD be visible while wearing a bra. Every time I see one of you post a bra picture, you're wearing cups that entirely cover your so called "boobs".

Okay, then I might be a B-cup. Still not an A as your metric implies, an A-cup bra would literally not fit over my breasts.
>>
>>7110056
"Sister sizes" don't work that far, they work for one cup/band size.

Changing out a D cup for an A cup wouldn't work, since band size is dealing with ribcage, not breast volume. It'd be too tight around the ribcage, and while the cup sizes would become stretched out, and not cover as much forward volume, it would still not suddenly adapt to the tiny tittybits.

60D and 70AA are not close to each other.

Looking at most of these, my hips (39in/99cm) are above average for cis males and within average for cis females. However, my hips are very muscular with practically no fat whatsoever, and my skin is stretched paper thin.
I'm curious about how much fat redistribution I can reasonable expect to see, since that's one of the things I hope to gain most out of hrt. My whole body is fairly muscular from working out a lot in high school (I tried to fight my dysphoria with masculinity, lmao) and I know I can expect a lot of that muscle mass to decrease, and logically it has to go somewhere, but when I see transwomen who are all still super thin and bony it kinda worries me. Is being a skinny transgirl just an aesthetic thing?
>>
>>7114061
If you're skinny pre-hrt, you'll still be skinny post-hrt. Fat redistribution doesn't do shit if there's no fat to redistribute.

I'm a 6'1", 135 lb mtf 2 years into hrt. I was 135 lbs before hrt. 135 for my height is technically underweight, but I seem physically incapable of gaining weight. HRT hasn't changed that.

it really depends on height, waist and shoulder measurements tho
>>

>Fat redistribution doesn't do shit if there's no fat to redistribute.
that seems reasonable. although, wouldn't it also be reasonable to say that I could just gain weight in a feminine pattern after starting hormones, instead of redistributing from a male one? That's what I meant by "logically it [my muscles] has to go somewhere". If my muscles are going to break down and my metabolism is going to drop, it seems to me like it would just convert to fat, and with hormones, that fat would go to typical female storage sites. I mean, right? is there something I'm missing?

175lb (dropped 10lb over the past year after reducing how much I workout)
28" waist
33" underbust, 36" bust (my ribcage is kinda boxy from years of swimming and playing in band)
Shoulders are about 14" between acromions, and 44" in circumference.

It's not just an aesthetic. I can't gain weight no matter what I do. I'm secretly hoping that eventually one of my partners will have a fetish for fattening up their girlfriends so I don't actually have to exert effort to gain weight (or spend my own money).

Whoa what. I have 16'' between acromions and only like a 37'' circumference. Did I not understand where the acromions are? Damn this is confusing.

I'm measuring behind my neck roughly between the arrows, at the bony prominences that stick up above my shoulder, at the ends of my collarbones.

I think my shoulders are bigger because pretty much all of the lifting I do for my lower body envolves my arms, plus when I was in denial I did almost exclusively upper body workouts, and it wasn't really all that long ago that I stopped doing those. I also box, soo that probably doesn't help.

oh and I also measured my circumference around the middle of my deltoids, which was the widest part.

Nice to see some well-built transwomen here. I know that I'm bigger than the average cis girl but I was surprised many trans girls are that small and skinny too.
