Hey /lgbt/,
I'm a 24 year old passable tranny in America, and I want to move to the UK. I have a college degree and such, but I'm not sure how easy it is to move there, what all I need to do (I have 7 months on my current lease, so I imagine I still have time to take care of paperwork, just not sure where to start). How hard is it for a tranny to get a job in the UK? I'm primarily looking at Edinburgh, Scottland, but I'm willing to look elsewhere if trannies aren't liked too much there. Essentially I'm worried being a tranny will keep me from getting a job there, which would be very bad.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Why do you worry if you pass?

Not OP but I imagine he/it is wondering about the legal implications of being a tranny and looking for work

Trannies are protected under the Equality Act 2010 which makes it illegal for employers to discriminate based on gender identity, disability etc. unless they can prove beyond reasonable doubt that said person's disability or whatever would render them unable to perform the job even after reasonable alterations are made to facilities and equipment. You can't not get hired on the basis of being trans or you're allowed to sue.

London is 100% the best place to go if you are a leftwing protected species :)

What makes London better?

The further south you go, the more accepting people are of weird sexuality and gender shit - like the opposite of the states - , I'd suggest Brighton, it's famous for it's gay culture, but London is probably second best. My point is, don't go to Scotland, you'll likely be murdered - much like in the deep south of your fine nation - , there's also a lack of work there, but London also has that problem.

Interesting. I'll look into London then. Is it tough to move there if you're a US citizen? Not sure how they feel about Americans.

It's really not that clear cut. Manchester is one of the best places in the country, for one, and there are pockets of super gay friendly towns all over the place.
London is often friendly, but it's one of the most extortionate cities on earth.
Also: don't move to the UK now, we just voted for economical suicide and things are only going to get worse here for the next 20 years. If you absolutely have to come here, you're probably better off trying Scotland so you'll have a better chance of living in the future with the rest of the continent when they get independence.

What about all the beach fights between mods and rockers at brighton?

Most british people will joke about americans - you'll get sick of hearing the same shit jokes about america every time you go out - but on a personal level, we like you really. We take the piss out of each other all the time, and you'll probably get more than your share because ragging on americans is like bickering with your family to us. But it's unlikely you'll get any real meanness for it. And you might need to be a little careful if you decide to give some back - we tend to appreciate a good line, but getting a sense for what crosses the line might take a little while.

Unless you're moving to 1960 they won't be all that extant.

So bored of reading all the brexit pessimism.
>>7005068
I can deal with jokes. As long as I can get a job there and do my thing, I don't mind.
>>7005048
lol you're dumb, Britain is going to be getting even more fabulous in the next 20 years. You got independence. A lot of countries would kill for that.

>we just voted for economical suicide

Oh anon, did you not heed the words of this wise sage?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIjUESuwqes
>"Everyfink is European we are gonna stop that trade and we're gonna just, screw up the y-young yoof, of our generation and it's just not fair"
You should have listened to her, you know.
On a serious note if you haven't already seen this, you will now and it can't be unseen. Whenever you see protesters in favour of the socially and politically acceptable standpoint of a hot topic issue, whether they're NUS uni students of UAF ragheads, look for the "Socialist Worker" heading on their signs and hit up the exposés of that organization online.

>What you cant handle british bants ?
No, because there is clearly a large divide there currently. Sounds like a politically tense period for you guys. Granted... it isn't any better over here... so I suppose it doesn't really matter now, does it?
