Alluka is not explicitly stated to be trans, but her unaccepting and intolerant family calls her a boy, while her loving and accepting older brother calls her a girl. I think it also says in one of the guidebooks that she is trans?

Also when she was little she was dressed in boy clothes, and the way her parents hide her away and pretend she doesn't exist is a pretty much exactly how a lot of trans people are treated.

The captain is FtM to. It was only mentioned on their bios in the bonus content (the bios were on screens in the movie but not totally visible). Although it's a different situation because in canon she was like some early transitions and it had some cultural stuff involved, not so much mention of dysphoria ot anything. How in Christ's name did the thread get this far without Ruka?

I read fruits basket in middle school, and completely forgot that one of the characters is ftm until I thought about it a few months ago. Originally she was intended to be trans, that much is pretty obvious from the way she was talked about before the game was released, but it was changed pretty much last-minute cause the Konami execs chickened out, or maybe are just bigots. Like literally the whole "parasite changing gender" "new body" stuff is all a blatant metaphor for trans people. Whether she was meant to be Chico or not (I'm honestly not sure, its certainly a possibility) she was certainly originally meant to be trans. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if her character being changed wasn't part of the reason between the fight between konami and Kojima.

The ending of it was her going back to being female and finally ending up with Shigure.

There was also a male character who presented female to avoid being hugged by women so he wouldnt turn into his animal.

I absolutely resented how Akito was a strong character, and would have greatly respected if they had stayed presenting male, but when it ended, she was written as a stereotypical female character in manga: suddenly weak, suddenly forgiving, suddenly shy and cautious.

Worst ending out of any manga I've read.

It pleases me to hear that it really does make sense, that other people do still hold to the theory, not just me. It pleases me that there is actually reason for this, that this isn't just my bias laying its sticky trans fingers on everything.

It pleases me, besides my trans condition, because it makes her character so much more interesting and everything fits together so wonderfully. The Chico Quiet theory was fascinating, highly conflicted and in line with some themes of the game. I was disappointed when she turned out to be just some random woman who came and went. She was a mysterious character, but you lose interest in a "mysterious" person who's mysteriousness stems from having no clues, rather than incomplete clues. In the end, her mysteriousness never paid off. As much as I like her, she is boring as she currently is. Ada Wong is in danger of a similar fate.

I still like to think my own canon with her being Chico.

I don't think Mutsuki is trans either but it may entirely depends on the reader. Personally, I think Mutsuki has an identity disorder instead of being trans. Just picked up a manga called Sunu Sumu Muriku. I initally ignored because it started off like a shonen ai series when the first volume was scanlated. However, I gave it another and to my surprise one of the characters, Nono, turn out to be trans and not a gay boy. Looks like she'll transition in the coming chapters. Is it common for trans people to be adverse to trans characters? I'm ftm and I love mtf characters but shy away from ftm ones. Something about trans men makes me agitated. I suppose it's because I'm very feminine and don't relate well to them.
