The spectrum of men isn't absolute manly manliness and you must have a beard and have certain characteristics to be considered a man.

If you take too much testosterone, you lose your youthful appearance and then are likely to fall into lower and middle of the pack level of attraction for that type of aesthetics for men.

Opposed to not taking it, you would fall into a different subset of men and be of higher levels of attractiveness within that group because of natural femininity.

Then with mtf's you have take estrogen in order to pass as a woman, even if you were aiming to be a woman on the masculine side of things.
