The furry community has always been a giant magnet for anyone who is uncomfortable with their real body. Among furries, nobody gives a shit what you actually look like. Your imagined and idealized self is the real you to them. It makes it the perfect haven for anyone who is uncomfortable with any part of their body they can't fix, like sex for instance.
Also, the furry community has always been a magnet for social outcasts too. They're generally friendly and accepting and supportive of pretty much everyone, which is a nice change when you're used to everyone hating you and being disgusted by you.
It's really no surprise that there's a lot of furries who are trans, or gay, or both.

I'm surprised OP got away with posting furry art. I remember 2 or 3 years ago I got banned just for posting an OP on this board that was completely clean. I think it was two furs hugging.

Anyway, I'm a furry but only into feral stuff. Only sfw stuff of course. It doesn't have anything to do with me being trans. I just love animals and am naturally drawn to animal characters. I even want to write xenofiction books one day.

Media has nothing to do with me being ftm but it did help my dysphoria. Reading webcomics and manga like Wandering Son helped me. It's nice being able to relate to stuff. That's why I'm so against those people on /co/ who complain about "sjw's diversifying our comics/cartoons". Kids who don't see people like themselves in media are more likely to feel lonely or weird.
