It's the old bait and switch. Trump is holding his nose and keeping the gay issue at arms length until the end of the election. Then he will leave it for the House to sort out, who will almost certainly do what they can to make the lives of lgbt miserable, being good Christians and all. Pence can already be seen as an insurance policy that this turn will be taken.

Pence illegally closed all abortion clinics in his state for almost an entire month. Additionally he fast tracked tranny bathroom laws. He's on a record an extremely prochristian agenda man. Trump says he doesn't care about policy. A vote for Trump is a vote for Pence and that is disastrous as all hell for lgbt everywhere.

The president doesn't decide what becomes a law or what law changes alone, he needs support from the houses. And since the Republican platform is strictly anti-lgbt this cycle it doesn't matter if he is the most progressive president in history he will not be able to do anything the Republican party doesn't want to do.

What's weird is that, right now, both "sides" are bad for the LGBT crowd.

The left supports them, obviously, but also supports mass immigration from areas that are extremely anti-gay like the Muslim countries. That won't work out. And the right's anti-LGBT is obvious.

I think the solution is something like a nationalist liberal/libertarian type of state. Why do people act as if nationalism and LGBT are so incompatible?
