To make the first non-retarded comment, i'm looking to get srs within about a year, and i'd like some recs. Not that I'm going to let 4chan decide such a major choice but I mean, it's always nice to get new perspectives. I'm thinking probably Mcginn because of her location and she generally has a good rep aside from people who don't like her personality. I wish there was more than one pic for her in the imgur gallery, but even that one looks pretty good for only 2 weeks post-op. The scar looks bad, but those fade away, and it's not like I wear uber revealing stuff anyway, and any partner will already know by the time we get ti that point.

Guys, they're photos taken like days after a major operation. No shit it's going to look fucking gross. The important part is how it looks and feels in the end. Unless you go to some shitty black market surgeon, do what the doctor says in recovery and get it treated if something does happen, it's not going to stay all fucked up like in the "the bandages were just removed" pics.

The ones from good surgeons generally look alright after all the after-care and bullshit. Plus if you're just looking at galleries probably made by 4chan (possibly to scare people), some like Mcginn who only have one are not a very good rep of results.

Also, the shit on suicide rates is hardly supported by actual research. And if you do have actual proof of that, by means of peer reviewed studies please present it.

I'm doing okay. I just left the clinic today and I'm now resting in the hotel room. Recovery seems to be going well. They removed the blood drainage tubes last night (which was a very strange sensation), Now I'm feeling less pain then before.

It can hurt pretty bad at some points but they give you enough meds to cope with the pain. The pain is mostly just pressure from your bladder and gas in your bowels (You'll be on a liquid diet so no poo even though you might feel like you have to) but there is some mild pain along my hip creases where they operated on. The pain can be pretty bad when moving around so seriously just stay in bed and sleep as much as you can. I haven't started dilating yet as I still have the packing in (basically a big diaper made of bandages). The packing will be removed in 4 days and dilating will begin shortly after (I'll keep posting when that begins). As for the phantom limb feel, honestly I've always kind of felt like I always had a phantom vagina. I can still feel where everything is like the head of my penis now being where my clitoris is (Even though I can't see it yet because of the packing and bandages).

Wow.The actual vagina dosent remotely look like a vagina.The vulva looks...more "passable", but the actual vagina...it just looks very "uncanny valley"

Depends on what surgeon, unless you're going to some non-big name doctor the results all kinda look the same. And seeing a lot of vag, me and gf both think most end results look pretty passable. You're better off looking on the doctor's official websites for a more unbiased selection and plentiful images.

I'm fine knowing that recovery would be a long process, and I know enough about surgery to not be too put off by the early post op pics, but some of those end results from Bowers, Chett, and Brassard ssare the crap out of me. The complications, too, like the woman in the Suporn gallery that had her neo clit rot off two whole years post op. I don't know if I could handle something like that happening to me. I hate my penis with every fiber of my being and waking up with it every morning makes me hate myself, but I'm scared of taking the leap and getting SRS. It's so expensive and the results often seem sub par and the complications are horrifying. I don't know what to do.

What would you say is the minimal recovery duration ?

I can't really take more than 2 (maybe 2.5) months off. Work is mostly office, but I need to be able to walk and stand not too painfully. Doable ?

Doable. One month and you can do a little bit of walking, but you'll be limited to mostly seated work (and you'll really want a donut/pillow to cushion your seat). Any employer worth their salt should be able to work with you on this, as recovery from any medical procedure counts under ADA (for US people).

Then you'll be keeping that dick for life. There isn't going to be any new amazing surgery for SRS in this lifetime, and if you're still around when there is you'll be old and wrinkled as fuck.

Some trans like to talk about that one stem cell trick that was being tested on cis women. But even with that all you will get in the lining of the vagina. All external parts will be the diced up penis (so will look just like current srs), you won't get the musculature, you won't get a womb.
