I see a lot of bait posts end up getting deleted because people report them to the mods for ban evasion. People say they could tell by "image hashes" that the individual was a ban evader, but no one ever tells me what an image hash is and what it means so I can help report ban evaders too. I also am confused as to whether someone can use an image hash to trace my IP and doxx me.
TL;DR: What is an image hash, and how is it used to find out someone's identity?

To be honest I think like 90% of the time it's just mobile ip's getting re-banned. I post on mobile and I'll notice previous bans from other people, then I post just normal stuff and it still gets deleted. It's kind of annoying because it seems like mobile posts only ever last like 12 hours or so before somebody else spergs out and gets the ip banned and every post gets deleted.

A specific identity for an image. So it's more of a circumstantial evidence thing.
