How it's diagnosed? Usually it's if the patient is experiencing Gender Dysphoria, which is big science-y term for "feeling trapped in woman/man's body"

Gender Dysphoria is a Mental Illness, but this is hotly debated.

Transgenderism is a by-product of Gender Dysphoria, but some Transexuals don't necessarily have Dysphoria, just a desire to dress, act, and behave like the opposite sex; a lot of times they don't even fully transition and just take hormones. The one's who do experience Dysphoria, have increased risks of suicide and depression.

The 'official' treatment for GD is to transition to the opposite sex, as far as the patient is comfortable with.

'Transgenderism' isn't a Mental Illness in actual practice anymore, except for a few radical pockets, but on paper it's still technically a Mental Illness (Remember, though, so was Homosexuality until the 90's.)

It's the health Ontario complete resource for doctors in primary health care for trans clients. It's an incredible master resource but it also includes forms and information about diagnosing or recognizing transgenderism.

they make you jump through hoops, put you on 6 month long waiting lists, go to specialized clinics that are a 4 hour commute away from where you live, then sit you down in front of a doctor who will talk to you a few times over the course of 2 months then hand over your prescription with relative ease

well at least that's the process for those of us that have been fucked by liberals who pushed universal healthcare

if you live in a country that isn't absolute shit then you could probably get a prescription in a few weeks, compared to 8+ months
