Why are cis women so obsessed with being allies, or trying to posture themselves as trans? What do they get out of it?

*cis straight
For the same reason people are into 'internet activism'. Easy pat on the back stance that isn't going to be seriously challenged in their day to day life, but they get to act like they're Tank Man.
Sucks, because I'm sure I'm skeptical of ANY LGBT 'ally', even some ones that really feel strongly about it in a genuine way, but that's always how it goes.
Vocal people get the attention.

They want attention.
>am homeless
>living with a friends family
>mom gets drunk and starts having life talks with me
>I tell her about having trans tendencies
>she makes an annoyingly huge deal out of it, talks about it in public and shit when I'm not even out to my friends
>two months later am a homeless again
But shes an ALLY of LGBT people though.
