SSRIs don't work at all for me. That only leaves dangerous old tricyclics, electroshocks and atypical antidepressants that work on non-monoamine related pathways. None of those were really an option.
There's more to life than work, thankfully. I still have a good income in spite of not working and it makes life a lot less unpleasant. So no, disability doesn't prevent you from living.
