I know at least a few of you have but specifically to the people who have: what were peoples reactions, if you could redo it again what would you do differently (if anything), what do you believe is the most important facet of successfully managing transition at work, what do think are some of the biggest missteps to be avoided, and in general Im just looking for advice on the topic. Im looking to start a new job soon and the closer I get the more the realization sets in that Ill have to "come out" at work becomes apparent. Its kinda freaking me out. at one of my more recent jobs i had a lot of people who were confused about my gender. customers all gendered me female but co workers tried to gender me male (they often made mistakes and labelled me female as well)
eventually I came out to my boss and she told me that everyone knew, that she had told my coworkers, and no one had told me that everyone knew. the confusion seemed to stem from some coworkers thinking i was ftm. i still don't understand why, if my boss and some others knew i was mtf, why they would purposefully gender me male tho.

Well its a job I really like (PHP dev), the offices/office policies are amazing (game room, office dogs, lax dress code, constant company events, bbqs), the salary is 70-75k a year, and its really interesting work. I dont want to find a new company and Im moving to a new city to work there so its a chance to live openly with minimal difficulties. Thats why Im asking.
