Thoughts on buying hormones without doctors consultation? Will be starting therapy 3 months before I'm 22 (8 months away), already left it pretty late and dysphoria is pretty bad.
Thoughts?

Are you trans?
Being aware of what to expect is the best you can do.
Don't be that person who gets surprised their nipples start hurting two weeks in.

best thing a trans girl can do for herself.

From bought hormones or from the doctors? Been pretty obsessed with info for the past year and a half, there isn't a lot I don't know about effects I wouldn't think

I meant from the hormones.
Unless you find a doctor that specializes in transgender care, you are pretty much self-medicating in any case.
I have an endocrinologist who has very, very little experience with transgender individuals, but he is comfortable enough to prescribe anything I ask (even GnRH medications). He has, on more than one occasion, gone outside his normal practice to fulfill my requests. I'm the first person he's prescribed more than 2mg estradiol to because I asked for 6mg. He prescribed 10mg weekly estradiol injections instead of his usual recommendation of 20mg monthly, again because I asked. I'm pretty much self-medicating.

I think you are absolutely right. A couple of hundred is a small price to pay for an 8 month head start, especially when I'm 21. Thanks I really appreciate it.
