Actually it's NOT illegal. I hate when people say things are illegal without even knowing the law. A private business had the right to refuse service to anyone for whatever reason (example no shirt no shoes no service). Some corporation have enacted anti discrimination policies like walmart, macys etc. but not small businesses.

I think most anti-discrimination laws forbid discrimination based on race, sex, etc, it doesn't mean you can discriminate against white people etc. You may be getting it mixed up with hate crime, which does give special consideration to minorities (since only minorities can experience systematic oppression).

The required score is something you can essentially ignore. Sure, they might take in a few dumb-dumb minority students, but they're going to want to keep their league-table scores up so really the white/asian/jew scores are the only ones that matter. You might theoretically get in on a lower score as a minority candidate, but you're also up against a bunch of other people with low scores for a smaller number of places. (While officially the number of places is the same and not segregated, practicality dictates there's a maximum number of dumbdumbs you can take in before your test results are adversely affected.)
