I really try hard not to be negative, but j gotta know. Someone please tell me what the appeal of this comic is, because I for the life of me cannot figure it out.
I know it's supposed to be in real time, but the pacing of each update is awful. They read like a clip show of an actual comic. Not only that but he dialogue seems so forced, and with those big soulless eyes the art style is just super unappealing.
Am I just missing something? And keep in mind I'm someone who actually enjoys hockey.

I read enough comics that even something that updates as slowly as Check Please is still fun for me because there are other comics I don't have to wait for.

I can understand how the pacing can be super annoying, but I like the characters well enough that even sporadic updates are still entertaining. I'm not so invested that the schedule is aggravating, but I'm invested enough to read it when it updates.

It's like walking into the office every day and there's a cheese platter and you take a snack and it's nice, but then once a month or so someone's brought in a plate of cookies too.

I still read it every once in a while (almost entirely for the art, really) but what really rustles my jimmies is to see it get so much praise/attention despite being completely mediocre story-wise, while much more frequently updating comics with loads more content get left in the dust.

Yeah that's totally fair. Again I think I just got drawn in to the pretty backgrounds and attractive characters and stayed because it's nice to read whenever it appears. It's definitely not The Best Gay Comic Out There or anything, but it's still worth my time, personally.

I think it also felt more like an engaging and better-paced story back when you could match the real-time Tweets with the comic? Because Bitty's Twitter really filled in a lot of the blanks that the comic itself leaves. It's a weird format, especially now that the Twitter is locked up.

I guess I've jerked of to technically SFW comics before, but usually the character in question is at least shirtless or something like that. Cocks on their own don't really do it for me, I'm kinda more into bare chests and handsome faces and stuff, and if a character is looking real right and it's just like a beach scene or something, I guess that technically counts.

My brain turned off when it got to the magical girl stuff. I thought it was going to be like Nuzlocke comic, but then it suddenly became something barely related to Pokémon. Yes, it uses elements and characters from XY and you can tell right off the bat how they'll be used, albeit clumsily. The characters are also kinda shit.

It would honestly do better if it was an original series. Having it tied to Pokémon is not worth the headache. People who play the games can easily see the mistakes and will complain. The mistake I have the biggest issue with is the donut steels holding the Honedeges' hilt, which is literally asking for death.

The Black/White adventures started on /vp/ actually, whole first episode happened because of dubs and anons- the comic then went from there. No update schedule either, I remember a break in BWventures that took it months to update (not too dissimilar to Nuzlocke desu). Then, it usually updates with 5 or so pages. Also got increasingly gayer and gayer with time.

I think XYventures is a bit shit compared to BW, because of some problems you highlighted and also because it hasn't got the same drawn style/comedy as BW. Given the way it started, it's pretty much tied to Pokemon, so that can't change up much. Artist is breddy cool though, and would probably make a good separate webcomic.

Try reading BWventures, I think it's a lot better. However, I'm also gonna make a pastebin entry for this:
