We've been repeating the trip but to different fire towers and former forest ranger cabins every year since. I have an old 4Runner we use for driving the fire roads. Some cabins and fire towers we have to hike a few miles to get to them. Some have good 4WD roads to them, others don't. We have yet to meet anybody but forest rangers back at these cabins. Some are quite remote. I'd recommend staying out of hunting season if possible.

Hey, that's really cool! Congratulations on "getting clean", as it were.
I think there should be more focus on how to help abusers. Did you go to a program? Or a therapist or something? What worked for you?

I started reading "Codependent No More" kinda recently after realizing how susceptible I was to being abused. Have you read anything good?

Uh, people seemed to want to help me when I decided to get help and that maybe because I'm a girl or because I'm like really middle class or something. I don't know really. I kind of feel like guys are less likely to get help or even to seek it in the first place because they feel like they won't get anywhere if they do, you know?

Maybe if you aren't like kinda clean cut already people wouldn't be as eager to help you and if you have like, an extra problem like say you are into drugs or drinking or something I feel like people might give less than a fuck about you.

I went to a clinic and lots of anger management classes or meetings or whatever. I also talked to a therapist but it was for a little more than the anger stuff and was actually a bit after I felt it was pretty well controlled. I still take Zoloft.

I don't think anything really helped a ton by itself, I dunno I felt like the biggest thing was like, people were willing to still be there if or when I got better. Like I felt like I could work towards seeing my friends again and going on dates and going back to school.

I've never really read about it, I feel like reading about mental health or self-help is intimidating.

More than anything else, it was funny, but I did end up with a bump on my head. I guess I should have had carpet installed instead of marble.
