Personally, I identify as fluidflux demisexual. That means I am fluidflux demisexual and not using my chosen pronouns(xe xis xem) hurts me as much if not more then misgendering mtfs and ftms. It's because many people feel a need to distance themselves from the labels of man and women, because there's so much gender-role baggage attached to them. Particularly for AMAB people, not conforming to gender norms means you're a failure, even if you yourself don't want to conform to those norms in the first place. HRT really isn't that dangerous, and they did specify "general transitioning" which includes things like changing your name and how you present yourself and so on. Really the only thing being trans requires is being somewhat serious about your identity to be the point that it affects your life in some way. Like if someone is assigned male, and identifies as female, but doesn't mind looking like a normal guy, is okay with being referred to with male name and pronouns, being called a man etc, they may still be transgender but it's not really something that comes up or seriously affects them. But someone who goes by a female name, presents socially as female, etc, they're still trans in a meaningful way even if they don't go on HRT and so on. It's really just about being uncomfortable with and resistant to being in the box you were put in due to how you were assigned at birth.
