A lot of this is proportion, not something set in fact. And you can affect proportion pretty strongly with hair style. And maybe save some money.

Short chins that don't protrude at all look bad on anyone in my opinion, but it a man or a woman.

To me it's the width of the jaw and much more so, the chin, that really matter. Chin length doesn't really strike me as masculine or feminine as long as it's not something ridiculous looking.

I actually have a wide jaw. And a prominent brow and nose. Technically I shouldn't be able to pass at all. But people somehow gender me as a girl even when I'm standing right in front of them. Sounds like bullshit, I know, but it's happened a lot.

I probably wouldn't pass under the obsessive level of scrutiny that's predominant here, though. I think we overestimate just how much attention the average person pays to a stranger. Even if you look weird, the majority of bystanders will just put you into whatever box that makes things less awkward for them, for the sake of normalcy.
