The thing you need to realize about Warhammer 40k is that it's big. Really big. Like, retardedly big. It's not really a universe where everything is more powerful, it's just a universe where everything is bigger and more expansive. So basically, yes, there are gay people in Warhammer 40k because at the scale we're talking about it is statistically impossible that there would not be unless the creators were actively trying to exclude them, which they aren't.

Slaanesh is about hedonism taken to the utmost extreme, not about negative LGBT stereotypes. For some followers of Slaanesh it's about sex, for others it's about food, for others it's about a twisted sense of beauty, for others it's about raw noise, etcetera. Basically: take something pleasurable, then pursue that obsessively until it's the only thing you care about and the only way to wring more pleasure out of that thing is for your tastes to grow increasingly depraved. That is what it means to worship Slaanesh.

On the flip side, there are so many fucking people in the Imperium that those who are exclusively homosexual would be statistically insignificant when it comes to keeping the population going. There are over 30,000 Hive Worlds, where most of the population is concentrated, and each one of those worlds contains anywhere from 5 billion to 500+ billion people. The Imperium as a whole has more than enough shit to deal with, I doubt that who is porking who is very high on their priority list. I imagine acceptance of homosexuals varies greatly from planet to planet (I wouldn't recommend being homo on Krieg), though I doubt any of them are throwing pride parades.

Overall, it's probably a bit of a "don't ask, don't tell" sort of thing.

Like others have said, it would depend on the planet. Imperial Govenors are basically given free reign to run the planet how they want as long as the pay their tithes, at least pay lipservice to the Imperial Truth, and dont go mucking about with xenos.

I'm sure there are plenty of men and women in the aristocracy who do kinky things behind closed doors.

it's not just the Govenors, the culture of the planets differ radically, and even the Imperial Church can take on vastly different practices so long as they very basic rules are followed.

Gays have shown up in several novels, they aren't common but they don't provoke much in the way of reaction.
Then again, there are also versions of the imperial creed in the books that treat all acts of lust as foul temptation.

They're a little bit more willing to just pull out most of your brain and turn your body into a weapon, or construction equivalent. It's not a nice setting, or one to look to for ethical standards.

It's ethics are fairly self consistent though. roleplaying in that setting doesn't require you to stop thinking, you just change a few basic premises to match the setting.

Neither of them quite remember how or when they started holding each other. They're fairly certain what they're doing does not violate the codex, it feels wonderful, but they still want to keep what they do between themselves.
