How do I get NV goggles for cheap?
And no, I'm not planning a crime.

Buy binoculars and put green plastic over the lens.
They're going for around £100 on Varusteleka, but might not work and are Polish 60's surplus. Gen 1 so you'd need an IR torch.
The taliban were apparently using digital cameras with night-time settings to look for ISAF IR sources and similar.
Good luck with the crime.
Buy a armasight vega monocular for 300 bucks
Though itll kinda suck, i'd save atleast 1k to get gen2 stuff

Gen I NV sold at basic camping stores and such still cost e few hundred for good ones
Gen II will cost you hundreds to a few thousand
Gen III and IV will sett you back several thousand dollars

This. Armasight Vega's are Gen 1.5 and are great by themselves at 50 yards. But if you REALLY want to unlock their full power level, get an IR torch and mount it to your gun. 10/10, I've killed 40+ Texas hogs this way with an IR torch mounted on my M92 PAP.
I've got pic related back in 2010 for around $150 just for the hell of it and those turned out to be pretty good or at least way better than I expected an old Russian NVG set to be. They work pretty well even with IR LED turned off. For Gen 1 anyway. If you can find those for around that price get em.

why not just put together a system based around cheap tech ?
Phone(s)
wired cams
wireless cams
IR led lights
IR lasers
go full cyber soldier and have a cam mounted to weapons wireless for low drag and with ir light and laser .
You can then see the weapon pov and shoot and look around corners and use the light and laser for a tactical advantage when suitable
I like the idea of a portable remote cam that you can drop off some places then keep a eye on different areas
Also something like pic related without the obvious downsides
