Hey,/k/ocksuckers, i've a question.
Will a C96 fire if dropped, with the hammer uncocked?

No.

Please,explain.
If the hammer is hit in the fall, wouldnt it simply hit the firing pin and go off?
>>35193251
I'm not going to drop my gun to find out but if you have the hammer down on a loaded chamber (which there's no real safe way to do) and then put the safety on, it lifts the hammer from rest position slightly.
Also this is the second type safety I'm talking about since the c96 went through several iterations of safety.

so it wont fire if the safety is on, but it will fire if it is off.
thx for clearing it up
>>35193251
No.
If the hammer is uncocked, it's because the bolt hasn't been worked, therefore there isn't going to be a round in the chamber.
Drop it as many times as you like, an unloaded C96 won't fire.

see >>35193666 and >>35193620
im talking about a loaded one,you can chamber a round, but also uncock the hammer without firing.
This is a exposed hammer,so it can be uncocked.

>Guns can't fire without ammo
Oh,wow,now that's a scientific breaktrough
You'll get that Nobel Prize in a blink of an eye,if you keep going that way

Uncocking a hammer pistol that has no halfcock notch...
>Ok, for safety hold the barrel against the side of your head when you do it so the barrel is held slightly out of battery

I was asking if the hammer is hit and a bullet is chambered, will it fire even if the trigger is pulled.
The Iver-Johnson will not fire.
The C96 will fire.
The SIG P320 will fire.
You get what i was asking now? I'm not talking about safety,as if dropping a loaded gun is safe to begin with.
>>35193785
SIG P320 doesn't have a hammer tho.
>>35193870
yes,but you get my point
>>35193759
As I said, it is not a safe position to get it into, since you have to ease the hammer down with your thumb while pulling the trigger. But hey, not bad for 1896 I guess?
>>35193785
small mistake
*even if the trigger is NOT pulled
