Hi, clueless girlanon nogunz here,

I'm not old enough for CC in my state but I'm trying to think ahead as to what handfun to get for daily carry. I already carry CS pepper spray for safety reasons. I have a lot of experience shooting rifles (22lr to .30-06) and I've had my share of handgun experience but it isn't very extensive.

I'm thinking about either starting myself off with a basic fullsize to "learn" handguns (like a g19 or cz75) or maybe I could just do that with a subcompact (singlestack, probably 9mm or 380) that I could also carry?

I've also completely ignored revolvers until now, but I'm seeing them a lot in EDC threads. Are they a viable option for me? I've got some upper body strength, so maybe I could handle something with more recoil?

What have been your experiences anons? Any other fellow smol-folk to share advice? Basically, what should I carry, and what should I keep in mind when choosing? I'm a little out-of-the-loop so anything helps

carry whatever you feel comfortable with. i'd reccomend trying out a few basic handguns like a full sized polymer pistol, a full sized metal pistol, a compact polymer pistol, etc. you could really carry anything you want, you'll just probably print with larger pistols
>>
>>35176815
By try out, you mean rent them at a range?
That's a bit expensive and I'm probably gonna get something polymer. I'm not exactly drowning in money and I'd rather keep my first gun on the cheap side.

I've seen a lot of women carry revolvers, which kinda confuses me. I don't mean like, shove a 686 down your pants, but those smaller ones. What benefits do they have over just a regular carry gun? Are they more reliable? safer? easier to handle?

I'm definitely not going to carry anything big, so printing wont be an issue.

Just wondering what people's personal experiences are to see if I can apply them to my life is all

>>35176811
I turn 21 soon
>>
>>35176955
People here are obsessed with tacticool bs and do not understand a weak nature of a woman.

Get a .25 ACP pocket pistol. No recoil and deady enough at point blank range
>>
>>35177148
I wouldn't consider myself weak :/
I shoot trap with friends rather often and I can shoot a 12ga pretty well and I can get decent groups with a regular AR while standing.

Isn't .25acp super small? Why wouldn't I just get a 22lr pistol?
>>
>>35176955
Women often are confused by semi-automatic actions. They have trouble with magazine in but nothing in the chamber = won't shoot.
>>
>>35177148
I wouldn't carry anything under .380, and I'd still,be nervous with that. You can get pretty small firearms in the 9mm range.
It's more about how you're going to carry. If you can't carry comfortably you're generally not going to carry.
For that you either need to figure out how to carry according to how you dress, or change the way you dress to carry.
Avoid purse carry like the plague.
>>
>>35176955
Also my recommendation would be something like the Walther PPS. Large enough to have fun with at the range, but small enough to conceal carry.
>>
>>35177198
So the question is, what is your typical style of dress? Do you wesr dresses often? Leggings? Skin tight jeans? That sort of thing? Do you wear baggy shirts, cause if you do you can consider a slim firearm with an outside the waist band holster.

.25acp is centerfire while .22lr is rimfire.
Rimfire ammo is less reliable.

Also.25acp is more than lethal enough while offering far reduced recoil.

And you are weak, women are weak compared to men. As a 6'3 feet tall man i would have no trouble killing you with my bare hands.

take a firearms safety course, at the very least you'll learn the basics and socialize with other people who dont know much about guns. If you have friends with guns ask them to take you shooting. They all love doing this and, lets not kid ourselves, being a girl will work in your favor for this.
Just dont act like a ditz or "Tee hee im scared to shoot the big guns, I want something cute" actually handle a vareity to see what you like and dont get pushed into the aforementioned stereotype. If I had a dollar for every fat old clerk that tried to sell a girl a tiny .380 or snub nose because "a little lady needs a little gun she can handle" I could pay off my fucking car

so yeah, handle as much as you can first and learn your local laws, they vary state by state and concealed carrying doesnt give you a right to kill. $500 is a pretty good start for a gun, you can go more expensive but thats custom territory (if you want/can afford that), anything sub 3 or 400 is risky. You also want to have extra money for a good holster, extra parts, magazines, a safe if you want one and bullets. If youre really stuck get a list of your choices and what deals they have and come back here for advice
>>
>>35177231
I consider myself proficient in firearms, so I'm not worried about that.
I'm not some out-of-touch grandma.

>>35177237
Yea 9mm and .380 were basically what I was considering.

I'm planning on getting a basic waist holster (no trigger guard ;-;) so that it wont print on my clothes. Jeans are my go-to pants and I wear leggings/shorts rarely.

And yes, purse carry is horrible. (I also hate purses so)

>>35177246
Huh, looks pretty good. I'll consider it, thanks!
Finding a first handfun that's good for both was my ideal.

>>35177258
t-shirt + jacket, waist holster to hold a small single stack was my original plan

>>35177278
I'm asian, so flat and unappealing.
Also I'm gay

>>35177287
>>35177298
>>35177309
Under-the-arm, as well as "in-the-pants" stuff looks uncomfortable, I was just gonna get a waist holster like >>35177317

Thigh holsters are a maybe but I usually wear pants. Also I feel like getting at one of those under a dress would be cumbersome.

>>35177339
Landwhales are disgusting and would never be attacked. They have no need for firearms.

Honestly attacking someone who was really fat just seems like a pain

>>35178185
I know lots of people both young and old who are into firearms. I even know a couple of NRA firearms instructors or something through family.

I don't plan on getting some autistic looking bright pink 22lr plink pistol for CC, don't worry

I've done lots of research on laws and firearms, and $500 was the range I was looking for; I kinda decided to ask /k/ for any personal anecdotes or random advice, because that can never hurt.
>>
>>35178257
again, id just ask them to take you shooting. Get a feel for what you like in size, caliber and action. Get a list together and after taking whatever courses you need, go into a store and say what youre looking for. Dont play dumb and say you have no idea what youre doing, show them you have some background knowledge but your just looking for a second opinion. This way you dont get taken for a ride by a salesman. Everyone, meself included, will recommend something
>polymer
>9mm
>compact
they will be light, easy use and take apart, 9mm is cheap enough but still a great defensive round (honestly you can go for a .380, .45 or .40 too, theyre still fine but maybe more expensive and hande recoiuld differently, but a bullet is a bullet and nobody wants to get shot with anything, 9mm is usually the best jack of all trades round) I would stay away from tiny pocket guns like j frames snubnoses or pocket .380s, theyre a bitch to shoot. So keep it vanilla simple for your first gun, remember if you want something fancy you can always get it next time
>>
>>35176774
Lots of tiny 38 Special revolvers are marketed towards women because they arent interested in guns or want to learn how they work, so they just want a gun that you squeeze the trigger and it goes bang. Most women are intimidated by actuating a slide and get confused with safety, mostly because they tend to be panic buyers or their husbands are encouraging them to buy a gun when they wouldnt otherwise. You seem to have an interest in firearms, and since you can handle recoil of 12 gauge and durr rifle calibers you should probably just shop for a handgun like any man would. Stick to 9mm, recoil is minimal even on a smaller pistol and its cheap as fuck so you can practice. I myself really like the Ruger SR9, and they make the Ruger SR9C which is a compact doublestack model which is in my opinion a good balance between concealability and ammo capacity, but then again i wear baggy BDU pants and a jacket regularly so if you wear tight stuff you might want to go for a singlestack gun. oh and btw ruger sr9cs are like $400.

You got any male 21+ family members to take you to a gun shop with? Dont let them talk you into getting some shitty mousegun or a revolver, that shits fucking stupid and not for the kind of woman that would post on /k/. If you can learn to shoot an automatic you should go for it. It's no more complicated than an AR, and if you're uncomfortable with the controls just get a glock which literally just has a slide, trigger, and mag release. watch some youtube tutorials on shooting/operating handguns, they aint that complex. roastie-intended 38spc revolvers are a meme for weak, dumb, paranoid 30+ women who think everyones out to rape their fugly asses.

>>
>>35178456
Cool, that's basically what I had in mind. Good to know I'm not thinking about doing something stupid.

I was actually planning on buying stuff from gunbroker or something. Seems like an easy option and I don't have to deal with possible fudd gun owners trying to scam girls. Plus, I can still support my lgs by buying ammo and stuff when I get my FFL.

I know friends who work at gun stores too, which is nice

>>35178466
Huh, didn't know revolvers like that were popular for such a dumb reason. I find firearm actions arousing, so no problem there.

9mm was definitely my choice. Again, good to know my plan of action wasn't stupid and that people agree with it. Planning on single-stack.

My immediate family is super anti-gun (Japanese), but I think I'm pretty confident I could hold my own in a gun store or something. My girlfriend is 21+ and she's a /k/tard nogunz too. She's also a slavaboo.

Rape isn't fun, but in my experience, a firearm wont stop that. I'm getting a gun to keep the niggers away, they scare me.

>>35178719

If they're still practically giving away M&P Shields when you turn 21, get one in 9mm. Good for small hands, reliable, and incredibly cheap. Saw them most recently for $275 with a $75 rebate. Can't beat that.

Femanon here. I'm tall and pretty slim. I went with the glock 43 and it works very well for me. Fits in my hand really well and I can pretty easily conceal it on my body.
I added Truglo tritium night sights, an extended slide and mag release (just makes them stick out the tiniest bit further to make it easier for me to manipulate), and a ghost inc 3.5 lb connector.
For the mags I got a pearce grip +1 for the mag I carry in the pistol, and a taran tactical +1 for the spare I carry since it's a little bit lower and easier to conceal.

http://www.pearcegrip.com/Products/GLOCK/PG-43%2B1
http://tarantacticalinnovations.com/base-pad-for-glock-43/

For ammo I use Federal Premium HST 124 grain standard pressure 9mm which performs very well even in a 3" barrel.

Hope that helps you with your decision.

I've always heard mixed opinions about the subcompact glocks, but I've never tried one out myself. I'll have to rent it sometime.

Adding cool stuff to my guns sounds kinda intimidating, but maybe I just don't know very much and I'm just scared. For now I want to just get something I can use out of the box (like how the MPshield comes with night sights).

Also ammo wasn't even something I was considering; there just seems to be so many types and brands. I was planning on just bulk-buying cheap 9mm on the internet to practice and buying a variety of internet-suggested carry ammo from my lgs.

Can't go wrong with a Shield in 9mm. Great gun and a good rebate going on. Big enough to shoot effectively but small and slim enough for easy carry. If you can't get a good deal on one, used ones tend to be very cheap, I've seen them locally for under $300.

I found the 43 way more comfortable to shoot with the mag extension. My pinky was really lonely not having anything to hold on to.

Ammo is an important consideration and if you're ever in a situation where you're forced to use your firearm you want the threat eliminated as quickly as possible. AFAIK unless someone has come out with something better, Federal HST is the best stuff you can get.

And for practicing I would absolutely get some standard ball ammo and shoot that. Get ammo with the same weight bullet and same loading as your carry ammo, that way when you do need it it doesn't feel completely different. I bought lots of Prvi Partizan 9mm 124 grain standard FMJ to practice with. You might find something cheaper.
