What's so good about it?. Explain it to me.
It was one of the best cheapest semi-auto rifles in a cheap caliber when a lot of people age 25-35 started buying guns for themselves. It was the first rifle for a lot of us.
Like the Mosin, it USED to be cheap and cheap to feed.
It no longer is and a lot of people who bought into the old meme are still memeing despite them costing 4-5x more than what they used to.
Good gun. But not worth more than $250-300 tops. You can literally buy an AK for the prices they're charging for them now.

?
It's still $225
Well, assuming this isn't 100% bait,
>Cheap
>Reliable
>Simple, so simple 3rd world ogga boogas can use it
>Common ammo
>Widely available
>Slavshit
Basically the same reasons we love the AK except it's cheaper, can be owned in most cuck states and has a knife on the end.

This is primarily an American board, leaf. Now git.

They were a decent quality semi-auto intermediate rifle that could be had for under 300 dollarydoos

is it legal to go to syrup land and buy one, then drive it home?
350 :). Not my favorite rifle in my collection, but a close second. No failures, accurate and all around awesome. Plus they're just a blast to shoot.
>>35159175
they won't sell you one. if they did, it'd be illegal to import
>>35159037
There isn't much of an obsession anymore except amongst those that repeat things they saw in decade-old jpegs, but back in the day it really was a dream of a rifle because it was so damned cheap to shoot and own while being easy to maintain. I got mine when it was 300 and to this day it gets compliments from shooting buddies because it is such a soft but accurate shooter. Not sure if there is an equivalent to what the SKS once was, but AR's are getting so damned cheap that you may as well get one instead of an SKS.
>>35159065
>$225
Sometimes it's good to be a Canadian.
>>35159175
No. The reason they're so cheap in Canada is that Canada doesn't ban their import, while the US does.
>>35159213
More like "Sorry, please don't take it."
>>35159175
Keep this in mind, friend: there are American guns that are prohibitively expensive in Canada, and Canadian guns that are prohibitively expensive in America. Consider researching what they are, then find a Canadian friend who might be willing to exchange them over the border at a remote spot

I like it because I have on of the rare original ones with the red star stamped on it.

Don't do this folks. You'll end up being roommates with Jamal.
The Chinese versions were/are truly shit. The Com-Blocks were much better but the rifle is hardly a shooter's dream
>>35159037
>Cheap, or at least used to be
>Semi-automatic
>Common caliber
>Plenty of aftermarket accessories
>Historical value but not so much that you would feel bad about Bubba getting ahold of one
>Overall fun rifle
The SKS was one of the first rifles I ever shot and I love it to this day even though it's old Norincoshit. Despite now having AR's and an AK with lots of tacticool shit on them, sometimes there's nothing more satisfying than popping in bullets off a stripper clip every ten rounds. The recoil is a lot smoother than an AK's even with no muzzle brake. It's also a great innawoods gun since it's so damn light and you don't have to worry about magazines.

You owe it to yourself to try some nicer rifles. I say this as a man with 3 SKS's.
can someone recommend a website to buy a sling?
amazon has some bad reviews on the chinese stuff. May not even be actually made for the sks.

I'd still pay 350 for a decent Chinese or Yugo SKS desu. Even if I did get them cheap at one time.
Chinese or Yugo/Serbian for reliability?
>>35159037
it's cheap but otherwise has no redeeming qualities and /k/ is full of broke ass autists that can't afford something new and think 1911s are better than glocks when they haven't owned either.
