So I have enough money to buy one handgun, and it will probably be the only handgun I will ever have for a long ass time, I dont have a problem CCW a fullsize but I want a good durable steel frame gun.

Do I get a CZ, Sig, or Beretta?
>>

I love my CZ 75BD. My opinion alone should influence your choice

CZ's have to have various springs replaced in small round count intervals, Berettas don't and they are stupid reliable.

Just because your armorer did maintenance for you in the service doesn't mean the 92fs doesn't require spring replacements. You need to replace the trigger return spring and recoil spring on a 92fs every 5k rounds.
>>
>>35158674
For comparison, CZ recommends replacing the same components in a CZ75 every 6-7k rounds.
>>
>>35158730

In all seriousness, I have large hands.

I prefer the flatter front on the beretta grip.
I prefer the CZ's ability to carry cocked and locked.
Beyond that, I don't really have a preference for them. The CZ sp-01 seems like it's better built but the Beretta has a lot of Wilson Combat upgrades and more aftermarket. CZ has some aftermarket too though like Cajun Gun works.

So for me, I ended up keeping the beretta because I preferred the grip shape over the CZ.
>>
>>35159468
Better built? Aren't cz's notorious for rough machining marks?
>>
>>35159748
If you have a gun made before the iron curtain fell, sure. Modern manufactured ones are great.
>>
>>35158406
Shot both back to back. CZ feels "tighter" and the kick is sharper. The Beretta feels more "loose" (and is way fatter), but the kick isn't as sharper and is more "smooth".
>>
>>35158406
Go to your LGS, ask for all three to compare side by side.
Ask if you can dry fire them each once or twice to try the triggers (having first cleared them obviously, and having asked for a safe direction to point them)

Then, figure out which one feels the best in your hand, has the trigger you like most, the best sights, and so on and so forth.
I personally am in love with my Jericho 941 railless.
Does that mean you'd like it?
Probably not; I have oddly shaped hands and sweaty palms, which mean I need a lot of grip to hold onto a pistol.
The sights are shit but the ergos and controlls are excellent and that is why I prefer mine.

Nobody can tell you what handgun fits you best until you go and pick on up and finger duck it until you know you want to finger-marry it.
>see what I did there?
>also, a gun will never charge alimony.
Sexy CZ-75 btw.

I carried a Sig P226 for a couple years. fucking loved that gun. I could shoot out to 100yrds and hit center mass. Only real problem I had was with new manufactured Sig mags. I bought the gun used as a LEO trade in with two older mags.

berettas a solid middleground choice though it is bulky

They're supposed to be pretty good. I went to a store and really like they way it felt in my hand because it's shaped so you get a very high grip on it. I shot it at the rental range, though, and didn't really care for it. Just my experience.

I got a surplus Hi Power for my first handgun. I carry a Glock 19 right now (partially because I care about it less than the browning) but it's still probably my favorite handgun. It points so naturally and just slips in the hand. Racking the slide is a pain in the ass (probably because of the 32lb hammer spring) but w/e

It's also considerably smaller than most "full size" guns and still gives you 14 rounds on tap.

If you can find one for a decent price go for it.
>>
>>35158406
Hi Power
>>
>>35163358
Mec gar makes 15 rounds flush fit mags. That brings it to 16 rounds, which is on par with modern double stacks.
I have a FEG Hungarian clone and I love it. You have to remove the mag disconnect though.
Idk where you're getting such a heavy slide. Mine racks easy as shit. Could be cause of how worn it is, but it functions flawlessly.
>>
>>35163358
>FEG

That's probably why. Mine is an FN manufactured in 1991. The MK IIIs had a 32lb hammer spring because portugal had some cheap ass ammo that needed it. Or maybe mine just sucks. Idk but once the slide hits the hammer it hits a wall and it takes a lot of force to get it to go the rest of the way.
>>
>>35163388
I'm guessing you meant to reply to me >>35163379
I'd like to get an old FN one. They're a lot more than the FEG though. I think I got mine for about $200ish.

>>35158406

Literally whatever you prefer the feel of in your hand between those options in 9mm. They're all great.

Shilling now, you might look into a browning highpower too, I believe it would be the easiest to conceal between those and mec-gear makes the best mags and 15 round flush fit magazines for half the cost of original browning mags. Its the height of a glock 19 with the same capacity but is longer. Length is easier to conceal than height and I appreciate the longer sight radius

My CZ SP-01 was made in 2016 and had some slightly rough tooling marks but only on non-bearing surfaces on the inside (i.e. places where they didn't matter except looks or whatever).
My CZ 455 FS had rough surfaces on the flats on bottom of the bolt, which was very noticable when operating the bolt. Was perfect after a touch of sanding but kinda not cool.
Personally I'm not bothered by these issues, if the SP-01 had any rough spots they wouldn't have mattered because I went at the rails and a few other bits with polish and a wool wheel regardless when I was swapping the springs out.

The Stock, Combat, Fusion, and a few other Berettas have steel frames. You may want to try to track down a Vertec or m9a3 if you want a slim grip. The m9a1 and 92a2 have a nice radius reduction for the thumb. It changes the feel quite a bit from the legacy 92 guns.

Do what works for you. I CC my Vertec. 18+1 feels pretty comfy. Pay attention to all the guys mentioning MecGar. No matter if you have a 226, Hi-Power, CZ, or Beretta, check into those mags.

Beretta 91 is a gr8 weapon that can be found cheap through police trade-in sites. Usually around $300

Alternatively, if you can find one for ultra cheap, the Taurus (inb4 >implying Taurus) PT92 AF is an extremely good Beretta 91 clone (and by "clone", I mean they literally bought Beretta's Brazil facility where the 92 was manufactured at one time, along with the machinery, blueprints, and trained workers' contracts)

The Taurus actually has several advantages over the Berettas of the same year, such as frame mounted safety, decocker (now featured on the Beretta) and even more piss-easy breakdown, at the cost of sacrificing Beretta's stellar fit and finish, and a rather bad stock magazine.

If you can find the Taurus very cheap, ( I got mine from a pawn shop for about $190, including 2 aftermarket magazines and a case) I recommend it, otherwise, go for a police trade in Beretta.
