Just a quick rundown/translation of a french military article about the Russian success in Syria

>The primary objective was to maintain the Syrian regime.
>Great result despite limited ressources (4000 men, 50-70 aircraft).
>Cost : 3 millions euros per day
>4x less than the US.
>Good productivity, especially the air ops : 1000 "aerial output" per month (thanks to close air base).
>Full commitment from the start + element of surprise (no diplomatic barging, no aircraft, then helicopters, then artillery...).
>They knew that the US wouldn't attack them directly. They immedialty occupied the land ("
unwary pedestrian strategy", since ussr).
>They occupied the air space + air shield (s300, s400) to threat the US.
>Key element of victory was the diplomatic/military joint operation : Put pressure on the ennemy, force him to negociate if possible, transfer the ennemy soldiers to another location (green bus) + Centre for reconciliation for diplomatic and humanitarian aid (ngo, un, locals... great for intel).
>Air force played a major role. Joint operation improved a lot since 2008 in Georgia. Polyvalent (at first Su-25 then Mi-28N and Ka-52 were much better for air support).
>Pilot improved a lot ("only" 5000 civilian casualties despite few laser guided bomb).
>Few military casualties (about 40 kia).
>Syria was a test zone for new weapons. 3M14 Kalibr, KH-555, KH-101; Tu-22M3, Tu-95, Tu-160, Tu-95MS. SVP-24, a new high-precision targeting system for unguided missiles.
>Comeback of the ultra-light motorized infantry. Great to support tank in urban zone. Can serve as anti-anti-tank and polyvalent tool in general.
>>
>New weapons
>Tu-95
Interesting nonetheless.
>>
>>35158074
I remember /k/ being salty as fuck when russians saved the day in syria.
I still smirk to this day

Tu-95MS did get recent modernisation and did get first combat experience in Syria. Wouldn't call them "new weapons" either, but yeah.
>>
You forgot:

>US does all the heavy lifting, neutering the real threat (ISIS) while Russia bombs rebels and civilians
>Russia continues to be a joke, trying to take the credit of a superior country; nobody but slavaboo shills buy their propaganda
>>
>>35159326

Go back to school burger
>>
>>35159326
This

Russia only did 100 sorties a day for 4 planes while US did 500 sorties a day.
>>
>>35158893
You were not around when that happened.
>>
>>35159326
>neutering the real threat (ISIS)
You mean finance and give isis money, weapons and gear.
>>
>>35159383
Yes yes vatnik, the only fighting going on was whomever the SAA was engaged with on a given day.
>>
>>35158893
>being salty
um sweetie..
>>
>>35159383
I don;t think it's salty.
>>35158074
It says here that they made more of an impact with fewer planes, but we all know that's BS, as the Russians didn't have the ability to fly dozens of planes out to fly round the clock sorties. Not to mention they were fighting to keep the regime in place, which translates to anybody who the government doesn't like. They did target civilian and rebel units with various levels of effectiveness.

>>They occupied the air space + air shield (s300, s400) to threat the US.
T B H it wouldn't have helped them much in the long run, the Russian forces in Syria are wholly unsupported.
>>
>>35159750
>sorties

fuck me, i've been trying to figure out how to translate sortie, i didn't know you used the exact same word in military, since sortie = exit in english.
>>
>>35158074
>Propped up Assad
>By literally being a hostage meat shield
The US had to avoid attacking Assad in order to not kill Russians and spark a diplomatic crisis. Smart move but on Assad's credit.
>>
>>35158074
About as neutral as a comment on RT. Geez

>>35159326
This
Even Iran did way more than Russia, but at least they they are not stupid enough to take all the credit for themself, Russia probaly can face way more terrorist attacks in the their own country and be blamed for everything that happens after the war in Syria in the future, looks like they will have to take the heat for once instead of making constant whining about others done this and that wrong in a conflict they didnt take responsibility in.

>>35159840
>Us supports ISIS may may
ISIS mostly uses AKs and shit, they are clearly supported by Russia by your logic. You are a shill if you deny it by your own way of discussing.

AKs are made in Central and Eastern Europe, then smuggled in through Turkey. Also, ISIS uses plenty of TOW missiles.

There is only one country in the world that makes those.....
>>
>>35161193
Russia is directly supporting ISIS, get fucked shill, first they made them so they would fuck with US back Iraq, but that it backfired. They are only so active in Syria because they want to cover it all up. Russboos BTFO, when will they ever recover?
>>
>>35161193
So ISIS is getting stuff from others and is also capturing material, but of course that doesnt count for TOWs for whatever reason. Are you more than mildly retarded ba any chance? "ISIS is backed by US"tards truely are one pathetic bunch of denialists.
>>
>>35161284
It all starts to make sense now. Russia has backed up ISIS from the start!
>>
>>35160298
>got BTFO over Turkish airspace and did nothing in response
Sure, if you count applying intense economic pressure to the Turks to the point of their President practically switching sides and forcing the yanks out of Incirlik Air Base (who then moved their nukes to Romainia) as "nothing".

Worst NATO member ever.

I felt similarly not just to /k/, but to the larger world in general. A lot of "experts" were caught off guard and didn't expect the Russians to have the kind of reach and operational tempo. Which is somewhat alarming seeing as how they're supposed to be experts and all.
>>
>>35161193
Convenently forgetting that Iran makes a TOW clone.

Besides, if you paid any attention at all you would know that TOW is a very small part of ISISs ATGM arsenal. The vast majority are Russian models.

Cheewizz, look at all these nations/organizations that wanted ISIS to have the upper hand in destroying Assad's (+ Iranian & Russian) equipment thus aiding in his overthrow.
There's no way that the CIA (& other equivalents) would ever let these slip into ISIS's hands.
>>
>>35159750
Hahaha, what the fuck. Back in fall 2015, the coalition was doing an average of 7-12 sorties a day while Russia was reaching 100. Overall, Russia has conducted 17k strikes over 2 years, which is 4x more than the coaliton, and that's with all the ceasefires. It this the sheer denial or an amoeba-tier memory span of average american at work?
>>
>>35158074
>Few military casualties (about 40 kia)
There was a plane crash that killed most of the Russian military band. Are they not considered a part of the military?
>>
>>35160298
Best part was that the Kuznetsov didn't really do much carrier ops - it just ferried its planes to land bases.
>>
>>35161416
>>35158893
Oh yeah, i still remember all that crap by the vatniks:
>Russia will go to Syria and wipe out ISIS within weeks, you just wait and see
What actually happened:
>ISIS is still not beaten fully til today
>Russia was rather busy bombing everyone else and waited til others had bombed ISIS to shreds so they could cash in on their effort, while they were busy losing Pylmara for the third time
What we got as well? Oh yeah the thing with their naval smoke screen death trap:
>Russia will send down their carrier now and crush Assads enemies
What actually happened:
>took over half a year for them to actually move down there
>lost 2 planes to fuck ups, while having barely any effect on the conflict
>limped back home with their tail between their legs and declared it a victory
And the tomahawk attack by the US was also a clusterfuck of contradicting claims:
>only a small part of Tomahawk hit because they are so shit
>only a small part of Tomahawk hit because they got shot down by the russian air defense
>the attack did little damage to the airbase and it is operating again
>at the same time it was a blow that crippled the SAA, ISIS is taking direct advantage of it and christian minorities in syria are in direct danger of that
>the Tomahawk werent able to destroy the landing strip or it was repaired quickly
>the Tomahawk only did little damage because of russian EW fucking with the Tomahawks
>...
When there satellite photos showing that almost all of them actually hit their targets. At the same time Russia crashed a few of their own cruise missles in Iran when doing something similar ona way smaller scale.

Salty my ass, it has been only big talk no walk from the russian side for the whole time of the conflict and no amount of rewriting history and ignoring what was claimed before is going to fix that.

Like you said, there is no way that ISIS isnt supported by Russia in this conflict. I mean they even had russian tanks! Not some flimsy rockets, real tanks, man! No chance they could capture such stuff or gettting that by people switching sides. And there is so much more including russian fire arms, planes, helicopters, anti air missiles,... Okay, they maybe not used them all, but still they got them from the russians, how else would they have gotten them?

>>35161585
>their naval smoke screen death trap

>>35161406

>>

>affiliated
>when you think you can make a point by staying vague as fuck
Everytime. Russia sure did their part in pushing everyone into the arms of the terrorist by not bombing the terrorists, but only focusing oneveryone even half assed moderate instead, since they could have been the real alternative to the terrorists and Assad. They intentionally focused on them first, so the only possibilities left would be Assad or the radicales, way to fuck up the whole conflict, but why care, Russia will feel the backlash of this action for years to come.
>>
>>35161585
>>at the same time it was a blow that crippled the SAA, ISIS is taking direct advantage of it and christian minorities in syria are in direct danger of that

No, it's amerilads being AmeriMad.

We know from the hacked Clinton emails that the Saudis (our wonderful allies), in coordination with Qatar, have been covertly funding ISIS.

We know the CIA was training "rebels," many of whom immediately turned their guns and training over to ISIS. We only stopped this after Trump was elected.

It wouldn't even surprise me at all, nor actually bother me, if this whole thing is completely true. But "some guys from the Balkans said" and """official""" reports from /pol/ about weapons being shipped to the Saudis and Iraq doesn't exactly make for compelling evidence. >Look up lot numbers
This.

>see they were procured shortly before the videos

We've had this numerous times already where people looked up the serial and lot numbers that were shown and you can track where they go. Majority of TOWs had a similar journey - in US Army, sometimes Marines inventory circa early-mid 1990s (which would explain why almost all the TOWs we've seen have been ITOWs, the TOW2s are always easy to spot as they're the ones that are used by professionals that have better camera equipment and bother to use the probe correctly), go to refurb sometime in the 00's, sold typically to Saudi Arabia in the late 2000's/Early 2010s, though sometimes Jordan or Turkey.

Coincidentally, Saudi Arabia in particular has been placing lots of orders for new production TOWs, not wanting hand me downs anymore. Take all that as you will.

Stay mad, amerifaggot.
>>
>>35165689
No, vatniks refused to accept this, we refusef it pretty much from the start. This is why those threads are made, to laugh about their endless repeated claim that turned out to be false like so many more.
>>
>>35165734
Once again, ameriscum, the RT itself marked the illustrations as "art concept" and "youtube screenshot".
>This is why those threads are made
Amerishit admits they made the threads, good.
>>
>>35165693
Crazy, right? Xir also did the whole LOOK AT THE PAK-FAS DOORS!!! THEY EXPLAIN EVERYTHING!!!
>>
>>35165770
>Once again, ameriscum, the RT itself marked the illustrations as "art concept" and "youtube screenshot".
There is no fixed connection between vatniks claiming it and it being an artwork. So you say vatniks technically cant say it will look like this? They can claim every bullshit they want, there is no physicial barrier from stopping them. This is what made the situation even worse, they just kept on repeating it.

>>35165693
Should really have read this first. How long is he be doing this?
>>
>>35165841
At least two years.

Xir was the same one that kept posting all the bullshit fake armata pictures. That's why xir's doing this. Xir's upset that they got so thoroughly btfo when all of xirs pictures of a sleek looking tank with dual autocannons and stuff never materialized and the Armata turned out to be xbox hueg.
>>
>>35165841
He has been identified the first time about a little less then a year ago, i bet if you look just deep enough into the archive you will find postings with similar style way before that. Its an on and off thing for him, he start posting but he gets more mad every day on /k/ til he throws another autistic fit and brings whole threads up against him, even the regular vatniks dont side with him then, and in the end when he is gotten told too hard once again, he disapears for some time since everyone recognises him for the shithead he is and no one treats him seriously anymore. After some time he comes back and starts the cycle anew. Every time he comes back he tries to avoid to be recognised, but he cant help it, his mental state seems to get worse.

Xir? Where did that name came from? Sounds like a tumbler tier pronoun. What did i miss?

I just wanted to talk about the Russian Air Force in Syria. Is that so much to ask?

Don't forget the time one of their airbases was destroyed by ISIS and they claimed it was a maintenance acciden.

No, amerifilth, I am saying that amerithilth was and is creating the threads with these illustrations, claiming someone by amerifilth ever said that these are something but illustrations.

Ameriscum can.

Armatard talked about xir's preferred pronouns in a couple of threads back. It's only polite to call them by their preferred pronouns.

Rather than under America's (((War on Terror))), they were rapidly expanding all throughout 2014 and 2015.
>>
>>35167057
dude there isn't realy much bullshit in the OP
all it says is that their main goal was to prop up assad and test new/upgraded stuff. Which they did. Syria shows a better performance by the russians than their 2008 Georgia operation. Altough i never got the flag the russians received for that conflict. They won in a few days after all.... Who cares that they did not achieve total air superiority.

The real shitposting was started by this idiots:

but yeah they are losing on every front. Soon they will get in hiding and the suicide bombing of shools, markets, goverment buildings will start and go on for 10+ years. See afghanistan and pre ISIS iraq

The only people turning this board into a /pol/ extension are the retarded slav-obsessed toadies that shriek like banshees every time the motherland gets besmirched. Literally every time we have a thread that even tangentially involves or mentions America a slavaboo retard waddles in to cry about "muh imperialist pigdog yankees!", only to recoil in terror and rage when people shitpost in response whenever Russia is mentioned.
