I'm looking for an acceptably priced 5.56 semi auto that can accept AR mags.

The SU16 could have been such a cool rifle, too bad it's execution is garbage.

I can't remember the model, but there is an yugo ak in .2235.56 that takes ar mags

Prohib in Canada. He could get a VZ58 with magazine adapter, though.

Does the bolt slam into the back of the receiver each shot?
>>35153327
Yeah man if they reinforced the receiver just a bit with say some stamped sheet metal, without increasing the weight too much of course, maybe 100 grams worth of metal, i'd say that it would become a great little gun.

An out of battery detonation will do that to an AR too though. The receivers on both designs arrant supposed to take any significant pressure

I have an SU16 and it's great. Would definitely recommend.
I like the SU-16. Good for backpacking because lightweight. I don't shoot it a lot because I don't want to put stress on it (just in case explode) but I've never had problems, is a pretty smooth shooter. It's for peace of mind backpacking, but I know it works.
I've since painted it and removed the red dot.

How much is "acceptably priced"?

You should update SU-16 to say "folds in half, integral bipod (bipod is shitty)

I'm not even in a ban state and I want that

~$1000
Seems like a pipe dream, fuck Canada
>>35158549
I'm not entirely sure its non-restricted, too close to an AR I believe

I believe it

Other than the bipod, the rifle holds up. Mostly good for keeping it off of the ground.
