Use both in conjunction with one another, these are two different loads. You see, the belt can be stand alone, but is very restricted to how much it can carry. It also depends on context. Just screwing around at the range? Belt. Operational training? Full load. It should also be noted that if the operation or training is more than just reconnoitering, that chest rig needs to be a plate carrier. If you plan on fighting, you should always have both the munitions and the armor to get it done. The belt is part of the survival level load, so it is used to get some weight off of your torso and back. But, it should also have enough on it that if you need to ditch your PC or CR after or during a contact break that you can still defend yourself until your regroup with your element or make it back to your PB, RP, or even all the way back to HQ if necessary. Just make sure whatever you do is consistent, also when using both, make sure you draw ammo off of your chest first. The reason is that even though the belt is faster, you want that weight off of your upper body. Experiment and see what works, always put a premium on mobility. It kills, for better or worse.

I take a Molle double AR magazine pouch, put it on a work belt along with a holster I use when clearing out my friends farms. In the truck I also have an mossberg 835 and an ammo sling separate from the gun I made up from those buckle-less belts and an SKS mag pouch for shells.

Driving around with AR with 1-6x vortex scope, pistol, and shotgun getting out of vehicle sometimes to walk trails and removing all the problem animals. Both night and day, one has a NV scope that sees out about 100 yards on a 22lr but normally I just use gun lights.

Coyote, wild dogs, venomous snakes, armadillo, rabbit, coons/opossum (some have chickens), dove depending on whether theyre a problem, black birds, and hogs if I ever find one. I know there's hogs around and some of them have shot them before on their land but they're more rare here. The most important problem animal are coyote and dogs because they kill calf and chickens often and dig big holes in fields.

I do it for free because they let me use their land for long range shooting, there's no ranges past 200 yards here.
