That really depends on the type of round. Most defensive rounds are heavier grain projectiles with a JHP.

The ejector screw came loose after 1250 rounds and damaged the receiver when the back of the bolt ripped it out. I was shooting with my buddies and once when I went to cycle the action it wouldn't go all the way back. I thought there was some dirt or something in the action, so I mortared the gun pretty hard and bye bye aluminum threads. The next 590a1 I get I'm going to JB Weld the ejector screw. Learned my lesson about inspecting my guns after each shooting session

Would a 9mm carbine that is suppressed, has optics and takes the same mags as your carry pistol be a good home-defense gun? One might argue it's not as powerful as an AR or a shotgun, yet people trust their short-barrel 9mm pistols to stop an assailant outside home... The potential for suppression, ammo logistics, negligible recoil and lack of overpenetration of a 9mm carbine would be nice in my mind.
