Same anon with the finn capture m91 that I got for a good deal. I was looking at my m39 and it didn't have a date on the receiver tang and was curious if someone could Id the marking. It's a circle P so I think it's a chatellerault.

That's pretty easy, the hard one to get is an Izhevsk since they were only made for about 16 months between 1953&4.

As someone who had owned quite a few SKSs I'm really not sure why Americans are willing to pay $400-$900 for them... They're really not THAT great especially when you can get an ok AR-15 for around that.

When I was buying them a couple years ago for $120-$220cdn they were good value for money.

They're super expensive for what they are, I got my yugo for pretty cheap. The Svt-40's are ridiculous down here, I paid $1,200 for it and it was worth every penny. Love that gun!

Also shot my 1916 BSA SMLE Mk.III* yesterday, with much more satisfying results than my T38. I used up the last of my old Brit surplus Mk.VII ball, which produced mediocre accuracy results, but with some older Remington/UMC FMJ it shot quite well, at least better than my 1918 Enfield Mk.III*.

Speaking of surp is it normal to have trouble when trying to load something like a nugget with stripper clips? Because I've got a few clips for my nugget and can only seem to load it with 2 rounds from the clip before the rounds decide they'd rather stay in the clip instead of loading into the nugget.

I find that clips generally work best with ammo from their nationality of origin. For instance, I had no trouble feeding Brit Mk.VII .303 off my clips into my SMLE, but Remington, PPU, and even South African ball didn't feed nearly so smoothly.

Get some solvent and lube of your choice as well as some patches a 30 cal brush and jag and a one piece cleaning rod. If it's corrosive ammo clean thoroughly after every range trip, including bolt head/face and firing pin. If it's not corrosive then regular cleaning is plenty.

138xxx, and yes it's been reblued. Also it's in 9mm, the barrel was hacked off and replaced. I was a little wary of that but the gun store owner said it was done really well. Who ever did these did them pretty well. Unfortunately the safety lever has worn out causing it to flop around so I'll order a new one soon. I picked it up a few years ago for $900 plus it even came with a matching stock. Unrelated but if someone could Identify the manufacturer of the mosin in this post I'd really appreciate it.
>>35140561

>>35144917
I bought my C96 for $900 also. Original WWI wartime commercial, all matching serials. 350XXX. Chambered in .30 mauser, which can be a pain sometimes.
>>
>>35144944
Honestly I wish mine was in .30 mauser. It still has the mag follower for it and the 9mm is a little shorter so sometimes it jams but for a 100 + year old gun what do you expect lol
>>
>>35144973
Yeah they're a puzzle box that happens to shoot bullets. For an 100+ year old gun though, the rifling is still excellent, so with a proper cleaning here and there it fires really well without jamming.

Continued,

the Arsenal refurbished rifles aren't really refurbished, thats a bad term, what they are in entirely new guns from several other guns all cobbled together to make a functioning rifle.
after the war the russians took all the excess mosins and stripped them down to their individual components, they broke them down as far as they would go, tossed all the parts in a piles of components, then used the parts to assemble a new rifle that was stamped with a new serial number.

It's a hold over from when the British were still in charge of India. They didn't want Indian civilians to be able to own guns in military calibers and they figured out that an enfield in 8x50mmR was easy to make. They've been made since the 30s

And yet bubba still exists.

And yet people really wanted the AIA receivers

And yet people like buying neat things

And yet a niche of people don't like things because they're cheap disposable garbage.

And yet everything else from India is better made than chink shit and still the same price.

Just because some people want things doesn't mean its a practical business decision to give them said thing. AIA went out of business for a reason. And Indian quality control is hilariously bad even compared to Chinese
>>
>>35151027
Sorry bud but AIA went out of business because not enough people wanted their guns. Understand some basic principles of business before accusing others of working at McDonald's.
>>
>>35151118
The thing about the ishapore factory is that all quality control was itself controlled by British overseers.
>>
>>35151118
Perhaps. But why not try even if you sit on them for a few. I doubt the same arsenal making every other weapon for india would have abysmal qc worse then century.

The barreled receivers alone would sell, especially if they're cheaper than milsurp for bubbas.

Companies today are pussies and would rather make 100+ ar15s than try something different.
>>
>>35151158
The factory making the IOF .315 is NOT Ishapore. And even if it was the British have not been in India for 70 years
>>35151173
SAMCO went out of business because they couildn't even sell Turkish 12 Gauge shotguns. These guns would almost certainly be more expensive than milsurp or things like the Axis. There isn't a big enough market for these guns for it to be practical especially when you consider the most well known Indian firearm is the INSAS.

Pawn shops don't care about how much something is worn when they're selling it. They care how much money they've got in it. Some methhead probably pawned that gun for $50 just so he could get high. This is why I frequent pawnshops near areas hit hard by meth.

>>
>>35157096
Nice. I remember J&G selling them a few years ago, but I was a novice in milsurps then so I never grabbed one. What kind of shape is yours in? Mine has some pitting around the receiver under the stock and some on the barrel, but nothing serious. Bore is great except for somebody very minimal frosting in a couple spots.
>>
>>35157150
The stock is pretty rough but still solid. I dunno what it is about yugo captures where they rub the finish off of the rifles but the finish is gone above the stock line. It was packed full of cosmoline and is actually in really good shape under the stock line. She's a good shooter with a pretty decent bore, I could get some good accuracy out of it with old Turkish surplus ammo.

I got an RC k98k and it is pretty beat to shit. Probably had something to do with being on the eastern front (who would've guessed?). I would recommend an M48 if you can find a nice one, makes more sense to get a rifle that's basically a K98 that might be unissued rather than try to find a decent German one

Carbines got used a lot more; my 1909 carbine has about half the rifling left compared to my infantry rifle; the (mis-matched) stock has 4 arsenal repairs on it. Somewhere I have a picture of Argentine border guards from 1961 still using M91 carbines.

Can anybody identify what kind of Mauser this is? The seller is listing it as an AZ from 1916 with a straight bolt, but it clearly doesn't look like an AZ, more like one of the Turk post-war rebuilds.

Also, how much should I expect to pay for a 1916 Berthier 5-shot long rifle?
>>
So im gonna buy a 1916 all matching luger which is in decent shape and made in berlin (new slightly longer barrel to meet laws)

$1800, but they are rare here, only the artillery lugers are usually allowed here, as the normal luger barrels are too short.

Saw an artillery luger sell for $2500 a year or two ago, so I think its a good deal?

For a ruined luger that seems very expensive. ww1 dated lugers usually go for less than ww2 ones here, if you really want one go for it otherwise might I suggest an unfucked Swiss luger instead?

Artillery lugers are a totally different ball game when it comes to price and collectible. A 1916 luger like yours but unfucked that's all matching would sell at auction for about $850-$1100 even though it's a 12(6).
