>>

I submitted my form 5592 for my restricted. how will the RCMP know what range I'm in, to issue my a long term ATT?
>>
>>35140058
>long term ATT
not a thing anymore.

ATT conditions automatically attached with the issuance of a new license after your first restricted purchase.
>>
>>35140078
Also, from the time of walking into LGS and asking to buy a pistol, how long will it take until it's in your gun safe?
>>
>>35140058
A range membership is not required to have an RPAL. If you don't have collectors status, museum status or live outside Ontario, your CFO office will wait until they have a photocopy of your range membership sent in before they approve any applied for restricted transfers.

Once you actually have a restricted on your license, the RCMP will send you a new card that says non standard conditions apply. Those conditions are the ATT component of your license. You should be able to take your restricted firearms to any approved range in your home province solely using those conditions alongside a number of other places.
>>
>>35140133
It depends on a number of things, if it's your first restricted and the cfo does not have your range membership it'll take as long as it needs for you to send that shit in. If all your shit is in order it's no garuantee for a timeline, it's however long the government feels like. I have had transfers done in an afternoon, a week and a couple weeks. Each one is different.

There's a difference fyi between a pistol and a restricted firearm. Not all pistols are restricted firearms.
>>
>>35140173

2nd restricted:Used 1911 A/O,not even 24 hours after I paid for it I got the call to come pick it up.Week later I got my registration cert.

This is in alberta, not sure how fast its going to be in your province, but the first seems to be the longest.

They're pretty fun to shoot, but there are 3 issues with them. They're unreliable, even at their optimal tuned gas setting they still have some FTFs. alright you fucking autist, I'm going to help you just because I am you in many ways. I've been bitching about the fact that there isn't a single review out there despite it being out for over a year now and the original being a very popular firearm in Canada.
unlike you, I got tired of being a lurking sniveling shitposter and decided to take fate into my own hands. I went to my LGS and fingerfucked the shit out of one. here is my REEEEEEEEport:
>the new rail is lower and is holding on to the rest of the rifle with a death grip that makes it feel like it's all one piece
>the mag release is now ambidextrous and the paddle on the left is a lot easier to activate on the left side than the button on the right, which is still there
>the chinky folding sights it comes with are metal and actually a lot better than expected
>THE GI MAG IT CAME WITH DROPPED FREE AND AS I WAS IN THE STORE I COULDNT TRY OTHER MAGS, YOU WILL NEED TO BUY IT YOURSELF OR ASK PEOPLE ON CGN WHO BOUGHT ONE TO TELL YOU
much more importantly:
>the madmen yellow overlords actually listened to the complaints about the Gen 1 often pushing bullets into casings by hitting the piece of metal that should have feed ramps instead of letting the round chamber --- and they cut two feed ramps into into the new model!
this was ususally the issue with any mag that sat even a tad too low or had the rounds tilted down even a tiny bit and didn't have the bullets clear the metal ridge that now has two nice feed ramps cut into it.

I'm sure some P-Mags will likely be tight, it was designed around GI mags the biggest thing people forget don't forget: THE FUCKING RIVETS IN OUR MAGS STICKING OUT, ACTUALLY ADD TO THE DIMENSIONS OF THE MAGAZINE EXACTLY IN THE AREA PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT
>>

im more concerned about economic collapse than a race war, the fact that the ponzi scheme that is pensions and social security is finally coming to an end is going to cause a lot of problems

the unsustainable way we've been running banking in our economies, the Orwellian nature of the surveillance state and companies like google, the rampant censorship now taking place

that and a variety of other factors make me think there's a possibility the stability that we've been used to post ww2 could come to an end

do the fish cops not care or was there a recall on the ban?
>>
>>35148181
there are lots of places you can still shoot at, look at the maps

Davis lake is a provincial park - im pretty sure shooting is banned in all provincial parks

When you look at the no shoot zone map it's not marked as red though so I don't know

http://www.fvrd.ca/assets/Government/Documents/NoShootingAreas.pdf
>>
>>35148212
i wasn't talking strictly about the park. i used to go farther up the logging road but that entire area is designated a no shooting area according to that map now. thing is that i keep hearing about people shooting up there regardless so i was curious if anyone from the board knew anything about it.
>>
>>35148237
I've been in some no shoot zones, I just go outside the 400 meter mark and shoot away

Also I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people are just shooting illegally - it seems most people have just given up on shooting because they are too lazy to travel outside the new shoot zones, or too retarded to read a map

I never see COs, especially outside of hunting season so it wouldn't surprise me if there's people who are just doing shit illegally and trying their luck

Is there anything I need to know in regards to crossbows? I haven't found anything and they seem to be fine legal wise but I want to be sure.

I don't plan to hunt with it, just bring it with me hiking in the woods in case an animal jumps me or something, it just makes me feel more secure having something to defend myself with.

In Ontario btw

Crossbow pistols are prohibited weapons (even though you can find them in yard sales and flea markets all over the country). Normal, full-size crossbows are otherwise unregulated, though originally they were going to require a PAL (early PAL's actually have "crossbow" written on them), but that was dropped from the final version of C-68.
>>
>>35151841
Thanks. That's about the extent of what I found

I just don't want to miss anything

Since it isn't regulated or anything would there be any problems for me bringing it along in the local woods?

>Crossbows Federal
Crossbows that can be aimed and fired with one hand and crossbows with an overall length of 500 mm or less are prohibited. You cannot lawfully possess or acquire a prohibited crossbow.

You do not need a valid licence or registration certificate to possess any other type of bow, including a crossbow that is longer than 500 mm and that requires the use of both hands. Criminal Code provisions making it an offence to acquire a crossbow without a valid licence were never brought into force.

>Hunting for Ontario
Crossbows legal; Minimum 119-pound draw weight and 12-inch draw length for moose and bear, 100-pound draw weight and 12-inch draw length for deer.

TL;DR: only short (500mm and under)/one-handed crossbows are prohibited, the rest are a-ok and no need for license. there was some noise about making all crossbows fall under PAL but it never came to fruition

>>
>>35152052
It's really not that big a deal and you'll feel silly for thinking that way once you've actually gone through with it.

Strictly speaking, open carry of long-guns is lawful. What more appropriate place to do so than in the woods, especially near a small town?
>>

your guess is as good as mine, for firearms, people typically bring as much shit as they can carry into a clearing on crown land where shooting is allowed. set up targets, put up paper targets, set up a bench or something along that line -- basically so it's obvious you're in one safe place just stationary, target-shooting for fun in the open, not laying in wait for an animal or tracking it through the woods.
maybe buy some bright obvious self-healing crossbow targets or at least get some paper ones and make a stand you can put in a clearing, put down your bag and set up a small comfy place, so it's clear you're just target-shooting

they intentionally impede gun ownership by taking as long as legally possible, and throwing out applications wherever possible

Cool trick on the MkII: pull the safety blade on the trigger about halfway back, then pull the trigger. The sear will drop onto the safety blade, at which point you can fire it with the blade and not the trigger. This gives you a ridiculously light trigger pull.

Takes a few tries to get it right, but it beats the shit out of any aftermarket trigger, and it's free. Sadly, this doesn't work on anything other than the Mk2s, since the accutriggers on bigger rifles are designed differently.

eh, makes sense that the magwell dimensions wouldn't be changed, it's a part of the receiver, so to change that they'd have to alter the entire process, forging, milling, etc.
some updates like ambi mag release and extra step of cutting feed ramps is already a big thing for the Chinese to bother with; expecting them to change dimensions of the receiver and alter the entire production accordingly is too much to hope for realistically

GI mags work in all, Gen2 Pmags work pretty reliably for many, Gen 3 Pmags work for others, haven't heard much about Hera. General consensus is they are all a bit different, but you can find mags each will work with well

what's happening with them? is that why they've had so many clearance sales lately?
>>

To satiate the future rcmp gun grabbing squads while still having buried caches of tavors and skses

Really though it was only 1400 tax and shipping in and I got it for the cool factor alone.

Should I get one of these for camping?
>>
>>35167956
i'd get one of the turk made ones canada ammo has, they are better quality and have nicer sights, it's worth the extra $100, the 14" barrel might not be your thing though

https://www.canadaammo.com/product/detail/dominion-arms-bandit-sxs-shotgun-12ga-14-barrel/
>>
>>35167956
>>35167999
oh i also noticed that one is a single trigger too, so i guess it's not really comparable
>>
>>35167581
Rip i bought my first gun there
>>
>>35167581
F
>>
>>35167999
This one looks much nicer. I think I'll set aside the extra $100 for it.

Also I haven't found much on it, but to take a rifle camping I more or less have to have all the stuff required for hunting right? Because if a DNR finds me then under their eyes I'm a poacher if I don't have any of it. That and a trigger lock unless I'm using it.

At least that's what I've been told.
>>
>>35168125
I'd keep that safety in mind. as you're looking at a single trigger and no external hammers.

Just be safe with it, as with any firearm.
>>
>tfw spent too much on guns in the last couple of months
>Still planning on buying another
>>
>>35167581
That's actually not true. I work there. The sales are starting tomorrow. The chain will be officially closed January 1st 2018.
>>
>>35167956
i've got one. It's a pos but still pretty fun
>>
>>35168209
Anything good?

Doesnt help that im fucking broke until nov
>>
>>35168125
depends where you live, some places are much more worried about poaching than others

my friends and i camp and shoot innawoods all the time and only two of our group of like 7-8 guys has a hunting license and we've never had an issue, we're in BC

I have a friend in fredericton that says it's common for COs to accuse you of poaching if youre shooting in a woods with a rifle bigger than a 22
>>
>>35168209
fug at work for the next month, bet everything good will be gone
>>
>>35160439
That's pretty much where I'm at right now, I've heard henry is great but I wanted a loading gate. Does anyone know where to get the Rossi model in canada? I can't find one online that isn't sold out
>>
>>35168352
It's going to be everything in the store, and the deals are going to get better as it gets closer to the official close.
>>
>>35168209
why are they shutting down?

are internet stores taking too much business to pay for massive brick and mortar establishments like that?
>>
>>35168504
Yes. More and more people are ordering online, as well as not spending as much money in general. The company is no longer financially viable.
>>
>>35168125
I bought one of the single shots made at the same factory, it was $150 and is surprisingly well made
>>
>>35168520
im surprised they aren't switching to be an online only store

i guess this is just the natural order of things, we're going to see brick and mortars go the way of the dino, amazon will be our overlords
>>
>>35168464
Nosales Sports is going to have a sale.

>right as they close down

Joking aside, I feel for the poor guys losing their jobs. Shit times. I never set foot in a store, but they had a few things I needed so I ordered from them online. Like >>35168540 I'm surprised they aren't just going to an online model.
>>
>>35167581
Looks like Wholesale's website is down or gone. On a side note where the best place to find quality milsurp rifles? I've been checking out a few stores and can only find beat to shit rifles at high prices
>>
>>35168540
>>35168581

Mail-order was never as successful as the owners wanted it to be. Besides, a good portion of the clientele are old fudds who don't use computers and want to see stuff physically in a store before they buy it.
>>
>>35168621
>best place to find quality milsurp rifles
PS Militaria has a bunch of rifles in nice condition. Collector's Source has a few, but the prices are ridiculous. TradeEx gets some nice ones in from time to time. They have some okay, but rougher ones in right now (Russian captures, etc).
>>
>>35168425
Aaand found a chiappa for 900. I think I'm sold

When you guys sent the permit request to Miramichi , did you put it in a full size enveloppe or a normal one ? The checklist says to put it in the included enveloppe but I dont have it with the form I picked up at the front desk after doing my restricted course.

Cabelas is beating the shit out of them.
>>
>>35168652
I still want to see stuff physically before I buy it.
>>
>>35172101
there aren't very many cabelas around though
>>
>>35172182
One opened in the South of Edmonton, and it did so well they opened another one shortly after. As soon as the first one opened, pretty much every Wholesale Sports in the city became a graveyard.

I don't see a whole lot of difference between them, but people evidently prefer Cabelas for some reason. Plus they are the dominant US outdoor outfitter, so they have considerably more money behind them.
>>
>>35172235
Wholesale hardly has any sales, Cabela's is pricey but at least they have sales and better selection for pretty much everything

I still liked wholesale but it had some serious faults
>>
>>35167581
Dang. I would wander around one if I had time to spare and I was in the right part of town. F

They don't strip down your car every time you go across the border, m8. Don't look like a degenerate, declare some alcohol and tobacco (which you should be loading up on anyway since it's so cheap down there), and they will have no reason to open your seat cushions or look between the carpet and the floor.

When they pull you over to secondary, they just rifle through your luggage and check for drugs under the dash and in the usual compartments and cubbies. Or so I'm told, I have no experience smuggling a gun back across the border and conveniently getting a "random" search. Committing crimes is wrong.

Literally just open the hood of your car and tape whatever gun/gun part inside the engine compartment so long as it won't look too much like a whole gun (IE take the slide off of a handgun and tape it up separately).
>>
>>35176235
And if they ask you to pop your hood? Border guards are not the brightest, but they're not so retarded that they won't recognize a slide or a frame.

Put it in the seat or floor. The harder it is to get at, the less likely anyone will find it. When the risk is years in prison, 30 minutes of prep is not that big a deal.
>>
>>35176284
The issue is more so the x-ray machines, the guards are also lazy and won't be searching every nook and cranny. Plus like you said 30 minutes of prep isn't a big deal, it's easy enough to tape it up out of sight. Again the big thing is to prevent it from showing up on a scan.
>>
>>35176319
That's why you go through a border crossing in bumfuck nowhere, not a major one with dogs and scanners. Plus, as far as I'm aware, they only scan personal vehicles when they believe they have a reason to do so, it's not part of a routine check.

That said, I see your logic. The closer it is to the engine, the less likely it is to be recognized as a gun part on a scan.

Please /k/, recommend me a NR modern rifle whose ergonomics, handling, accuracy etc is equivalent or superior to an AR-15,

has to be chambered in .223 or 7.62x39.
has to *not* be a bullpup
has to be equivalent or superior to an AR-15

>vz 58
Not really on par with AR-15 imo
