It's happening. The House Subcommittee on Water, Power, and Oceans is going to vote on the SHARE act tomorrow.

Does /k/ think it will pass?

Probably not. If Senate Democrats can stop funding for the proposed border wall then I don't see why they can't stop the SHARE from passing the Senate.

All they have to do is Filibuster it. Republicans dont have enough votes to override one.

100% guaranteed there will be another false flag attack tomorrow. The powers that be cannot risk losing firearms regulation as a wedge issue and it's just likely enough to pass that they won't want to risk even having the vote since deregulated suppressors and concealed carry reciprocity are basically holy grails.

Fear? We all know I'm right, it's not in doubt. You know why the media shills so hard against Trump and the GOP keeps trying to undermine him? It's because he was at risk of giving neocons everything they ran on and they realized most of that shit (a well-armed populace, civil liberties, personal responsibility instead of dependence on the state) is absolutely fucking terrifying to think about when you're neck deep in the corruption trough. They NEED him to be the gibbering buffoon in the public mind, otherwise they'll have to admit to their constituents that they oppose everything they promised to work for...so if there's ACTUALLY a chance to vote on major legislation, there will be a false flag or an "international incident" to give justification to skip voting.

This watered-down version doesn't go far enough and if they pass this, they'll consider it good enough and never revisit the subject.
>“(24) (A) The terms ‘firearm silencer’ and ‘firearm muffler’ mean any device for silencing, muffling, or diminishing the report of a portable firearm, including the ‘keystone part’ of such a device.

>“(B) The term ‘keystone part’ means, with respect to a firearm silencer or firearm muffler, an externally visible part of a firearm silencer or firearm muffler, without which a device capable of silencing, muffling, or diminishing the report of a portable firearm cannot be assembled, but the term does not include any interchangeable parts designed to mount a firearm silencer or firearm muffler to a portable firearm.”;

Does that mean they're going to consider a length of pipe to be a silencer and thus require an FFL transaction? Moronic.

>Section 927 of title 18, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following: “Notwithstanding the preceding sentence, a law of a State or a political subdivision of a State that imposes a tax, other than a generally applicable sales or use tax, on making, transferring, using, possessing, or transporting a firearm silencer in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce, or imposes a marking, recordkeeping or registration requirement with respect to such a firearm silencer, shall have no force or effect.”.

I'm not sure what to make of that last bit.

True enough, anon. I always laugh when people say "Republicans are fiscally responsible party" or "Democrats are the party of the working class". NEITHER ARE ANYTHING OF THE SORT.

Spending doesn't go down when Republicans are in office. It keeps going up! Democrat control doesn't lead to less income differences. The difference keeps widening! The only difference between both parties these days is what stupid social justice bullshit they want you to stand for.

That's not how it reads to me. Let's use Cuckifornia as an example. In CA, silencers are effectively banned, but you can, theoretically, get a permit to own one (along with other NFA items and "AWs") if you suck the right dicks. That line doesn't do anything to change the situation in Shitifornia, except prevents the state from having a separate registry for them. You still won't be able to buy or possess them in CA, unless you're well connected.
You see what I mean?
>>
>>35141186
HPA, as originally written, should've been the compromise for the SHUSH act. Instead, these cucks watered down the HPA further.
>>
>>35141191

>>35140442

They're the only subcommittee that would hear it, and they're not important enough to be covered by the news regularly, so they're hoping it all slips through unnoticed.
>>
>>35140966
Sounds like they're codifying case law. ATF has tried to argue that anything that can be adapted as a silencer IS a silencer. They've been laughed out of court for that interpretation of existing law. Also, there's that oil filter silencer product where the adapter is legally the silencer, not the oil filter. It sounds like this law would establish that only the adapter that mounts the tube to the muzzle is legally a silencer. That would be in line with how only the lower receiver of an AR pattern rifle is legally the firearm.
>>
>>35139969

>>
>>35141428
>there's that oil filter silencer product where the adapter is legally the silencer, not the oil filter.

Used to be that the filter was considered a wipe, but only because nobody bothered to clarify. Once some dumbass finally asked formally, BAFTE issued an opinion saying 'fuck you, all parts of a suppressor are in and of themselves suppressors.' Ever since the 'fractal suppressors' letter, we've been SOL on that front. Not that it's stopped people from making and selling common-threading-to-13/16x16 'pipe fittings.'
>>
>>35141415
see >>35141251 & >>35140966

>they can still classify anything they want as a DD
Not really, this would make it so something can't be classified a DD just because it has a large bore (IE: 40mm) or because it has no "sporting purpose"

Now a DD has to be either
>(1) any explosive, incendiary, or poison gas (A) bomb, (B) grenade, (C) rocket having a propellent charge of more than four ounces, (D) missile having an explosive or incendiary charge of more than one-quarter ounce, (E) mine, or (F) similar device;
or
>(3)any combination of parts either designed or intended for use in converting any device into a destructive device as defined in subparagraphs (1) and (2) and from which a destructive device may be readily assembled.

Owning an unregistered 40mm grenade launcher would be l, owning an unregistered 40mm grenade that has an explosive charge more than 1/4 Oz is still illegal. That's my understanding.

We've got the exact same shit that we would have gotten with Hillary, absolutely nothing done for 8 years because the Executive branch and the Legislative are going to spend their time butting heads because they're from two different parties. Not necessarily because according to governing bodies silencers are already viewed as firearms, since they are already viewed as firearms by the govt it's not a stretch to take them off the nfa and have that just work over to a normal mics check. Other items that would be serialized would either have to e deemed firearms as well which wouldn't happen. The only reason it happened with suppressors is because of the nfa lumping firearms with the accessory(suppressors) and then making them all become firearms. Unless you're saying a law will pass that turns all accessories of a firearm into firearms. In that case get out the xhibit memes.

Technically it does make it easier for criminals to get one that's compact and guaranteed to work since after this all they needed is a straw purchaser, but since they need to get a gun in the first place it's kind of a moot point. Email your democratic Congressmen and both of your Senators!

Sample email I just used:
Dear Congressman Perlmutter,

I am writing today as a constituent of yours to voice a simple support for the SHARE act, and to implore you to support it as well. Our constitutional republic has many fundamental tenets, but one of the most important ones is that the governed give consent to be governed. Any and all pro second amendment legislation essentially empower the governed, and by extension increase their autonomy to give consent to be governed, thus upholding this fundamental tenet of our society.

This is not a matter of consequentialist rhetoric, but rather one of principle. 2nd Amendment rights are critical to the security of a free state, one in which the citizens have the freedom to support (or not) their government. For this reason I urge you to support the SHARE act.

Thank you for you consideration.

What needs to happen is that someone who can write well needs to put together a letter saying essentially the the Repubs need to fucking get some pro 2a stuff through the system or they're going to suffer in midterms. As much as I'd like suppressors to be removed from the NFA, I really hope it doesn't happen. When the pendulum swings back, dems aren't just going to put them back in the NFA. They're going to make them illegal. Before all this, they barely even knew they existed.

They already were for like 2 years with solvent traps. All ya needed was a power drill and they didnt show up at crime scenes or shootings
>>
>>35145215
There's too many suppressors. And there will be a super hard push against it. Itll be like when the wtf just decided that m855 was evil and therefore banned. And there was a huge push against it and they retracted their ruling. Remember we are a majority

We would have to get some non discredited celebrities who people might actually care about to endorse it loudly as possible because social media sites will censor it. We'll also have to form an NGO lobbying group with some decent sounding commie friendly name because otherwise we're just a collection of nobodies even if we're most of the people in the country.

In other words, this is never going to happen.

Why? Strict Dogma is regressive
>>
>>35146323
>Strict Dogma is regressive
Spotted the retard. All first order knowledge is built upon dogma. Don't believe me? Try to prove that mathematics or logic are true.

why would they want to pass any of their pet issues, then they can't run on them next election
>>

>>
>>35146472
>try to prove that mathematics and logic are true

No, because that's a stupid position to take. Mathematics and logic are founded in observable truths and reality so far as we are able to perceive it. Whether that reality is founded on a fundamentally dogmatic perception doesn't change anything about what it is to exist in said reality. The thought occurring to me that the mechanism of gravity as I understand it is an assumption based on an unknowable truth doesn't change the fact that if I jump up, I will then fall. The slippery slope of "you can't truly know anything so you may as well assume you know everything" in the form of faith in a god is just stupid, and to believe that such a god would then put arbitrary restrictions and rules on mankind is taking it a step further past metaphysical conjecture into the realm of pure drivel that runs contrary to human dignity.
>>
>>35146869
So you've observed the number 3? Can you tell me where it is so I can observe it, too?

>The slippery slope of "you can't truly know anything so you may as well assume you know everything" in the form of faith in a god is just stupid
That's not how this works at all. Dogma literally means "that which one thinks is true." There is no way to prove any first order knowledge since there is nothing able to be known before them to support their claims. Logic, math, and religious beliefs are all first order knowledge.

For instance, you and I can observe the geometric postulates. I haven't ever seen one to be false and I'm sure you haven't as well. I believe them to be true. Would you say my strict dogmatic adherence to geometric postulates is regressive? I say that unfounded criticism of dogmas is the regressive form of thought.

>doesn't change the fact that if I jump up, I will then fall.
It does change the fact that you only are able to believe it and not know it. It, too, is a strict dogma. If I were to question your dogmatic belief (with an equal lack of proof) in gravity would that be progressive of me? I'd believe it to be the opposite and that strict dogma is actually the progressive thing.
>>
>>35147084
You know very well I was talking about religious dogmas and not gravity or math, moron, which is a far cry from arguing the merits (or lack thereof) of a theocratic society. Quit being fucking pedantic on purpose

They are different about a lot of things. The Democrats have spent generations making themselves the party of the bureaucracy, and of what Marx would call the "lumpenproletariat" (people so poor they are effectively outside the economy). When they get power, advance their agenda in areas where it means expanding the bureaucracy (state, local, and federal), and/or increase the size of the program-dependent underclass. Republicans mostly go along with for reasons I don't fully understand, but rarely push their own supposed agenda when in power.

You are right to the extent that the Democrats won't ever do much to intentionally address their constituents' day-to-day grievances (for instance, trying to reign in overcriminalization and police aggression). Actually fixing problems would break their political model.
>>
>>35147234
>the only true dogmas are the ones I agree with
I suppose you believe guns are "good" except when used to do something bad, too?
>Quit being fucking pedantic on purpose
There's nothing pedantic about this when your entire statement was "Strict Dogma is regressive." Either you need to frame your arguments around your fragile sentimentality or you need to at least be marginally consistent (or you could even be quiet and no one would "pedantically" criticize you). When you admit to strict dogmatic adherence to ideas you fancy and denounce the entirety of strict dogmas itself it's quite contradictory of you.
