Anyone here own or have experience shooting pic related? Can you put original galil handguard/stocks on it? I've heard that it's well made and accurate rifle, I just vastly prefer the aesthetics of the original late model Galil rifle and would rather not have the unnecessary weight from the railed handguard I won't use.

I would rather just get an Arsenal SLR-106, but I can't for work because that can cause additional problems especially because look vaguely middle eastern and have a beard.
Is the original handguard actually lighter?
>>35138147
It's made out of plastic with a hint aluminum heatshield, so it really should be.
>>35137948
The AR-style stock kills it for me. There are AR stocks that look decent on AKs, but not that one.
Its better in 308
>>35138206
>16" barrel
Why is it good in 308? Is it just something for semi-poorfags who can afford a $2k rifle but not a SCAR?
>>35138276
Tell me what the FPS gain from 16'' to 20'' in common .308 loads.
Pro-tip: it's practically nothing.
Favorite gun. Has virtually no recoil and its surprisingly accurate
>>35138304
It's about 100FPS
>>35138276
Is it not abundantly obvious what OP wants it for? He's wanting to remove sand nigger. Dune coons are 5.56 resilient so he should get 7.62
>>35138276
It's for people smart enough to not pay 3k for a reciprocating charging handle.
>>35138200
Which is why I would be putting an og galil stock on it.
>>35138356
Kinda sorta not really. Most of my co-workers use ARs, so being able to share ammo/mags would be nice. If I can get a really nice deal on a SCAR 16s I may go that route.
>>35138424
308 is better in literally every aspect
>>35138399
Wait, would that even work? Has anyone tried putting an aftermarket stock on the new Galils?
>>35138328
I really want to snag one of these and throw one of those modified zhukov handguards on it, but not at anywhere near $2k. That's just too close to MWS or 17S money and all of the .308 ACE rifles I've had experience with fell into the typical battle rifle accuracy category.
>>35138053
Mmmm... are you Greek or Turkish by any chance?
>>35138504
Original stock works, but it interferes with the plastic lower.
>>35138644
I'm assuming that means it can't fold shut or will strip out the plastic lower's threads.
>>35138661
The lower isn't actually plastic. That's just a mag-well and trigger guard
>>35138661
Yea, it won't fold shut.
>>35138586
Dad's side is ukranian, but the Turks got way up in there awhile back.
>>35138793
Seriously? That's a shame. I guess I would have to use the adapter that works with ACE skeleton stocks.
>>35139610
You could just install the only trigger guard and pistol grip. Then it will work fine.
>>35139633
On the 5.56 version those bits are integral to the lower I think.
>>35141956
I don't know, but I would definitely like to find out. I'd love a Galil ACE in 5.56N if I could convert it to use Galil magazines and the original furniture.
>>35137948
Israeli AK is Best AK.
>>35137948
modify some magpul forend and put it on
>>35142957
Midwest industries makes one that weighs half as much as the zhukov handguard.
>>35142957
Buttstock is still fucking stupid.
>>35143061
Its still better than the folding telescopic stock on CZ Bren 805. What the fuck were they smoking when they designed that piece of shit.
>>35137948
>jewish crap
>>35143358
There's nothing wrong with the 805 stock, it's just ugly.
>>35144843
Better looking than the SCAR stock, but at least it has aftermarket options.
How are the triggers on these? Can they be replaced with the ALG AK triggers?
>>35146752
You can buy an ALG Galil trigger.
>>35138475
Unless you just want a gun to fuck about with that'll hold you over just fine in an HD/SD scenario.
I own guns in
>.308/7.62 NATO
>12 gauge
>.22LR
>410 bore
>7.62x39
>.243 Winchester
>.32 S&W Long
>9x19
>5.56
The 5.56 and 9x19 are my favorites to shoot and travel with.
It may also be a professional thing, as those are also my work calibers and see the most range time.
>>35144843
It's not that great.
>>35146955
Wow, so descriptive. I didn't say it was great, I said there wasn't anything wrong with it. Do you have anything specific to say about it?
>>35147012
I was tracking on what you're saying and using "Not that great" to describe it as not being as good as it could be.
More specifically, it's stiffer than a skeleton's boner, hard to manipulate quickly and doesn't provide enough utility to justify its own design. A slapped-on classic 3 position stock would be superior.
