I actually have the cold steel one that breaks down into three pieces so it's easy to carry in a pack.

Man, I was able to shoot a dart longer than a football field with it. Of course you wont be able to aim that far and hit something with it, but within 20 yards you can take any small game you want.

Even saw a guy on Youtube take on a Ram with a blowdart gun in Australia or New Zealand.

Yeah, I've used some of the modern USA made Gerbers. They're pretty good. This one though. They just made shit differently back then. Everybody did, it's not just Gerber, but they probably get the most shit for it. You just touch this knife and you know it's built to last. But not in that clunky, overbuilt way a lot of modern knives do. And like you said, it's simple. I bought it secondhand, and it took forever just to figure out what the hell the knife is, because the only marking is on the front of the handle, where I never thought to look.

I figure this is the best place since there's no blade thread.

I own a machete I'm pretty happy with, but one of its issues is that it's pretty heavy, making it difficult to get a high swing speed. This means that for thin, light stuff like vines, it just pushes them out of the way rather than whipping through them.
What is the best light/thin machete you guys can recommend for cutting through woods?

btw you will find difficulty finding anything that will actually cut through briars. They give too much. I have had more success making a path by beating it with a big heavy stick.

A brush axe works well against briar and pretty much anything.

By briar, do you mean thorny vines? Or something else? There are a lot of thorny vines in the area.

For small trees, my 2 lb barong machete seems to work pretty well, but it just pushes thin stuff like vines and saplings, I often have to fold them against the ground and chop downward.

Got the same hammock, sturdy, comfy and spacey, plus integrated insect protection. However, if just starting out, you need to consider if you really want to spend +400$ on a Clark Jungle Hammock or not. I can't imagine having much loss in function by going with a much cheaper model, however I don't regret the purchase either. You sleep better in one of these than at home.

As for clothing, go with something that works in the climate, keeps you acclimatized and dry. If there are many people around, you should always go with regular civilian clothing and not play dress up. If you want to stay hidden for whatever reason, go with a ghillie suit and move slow as fuck. That also enables you to drop the suit and be a regular person again in case you're found. Running around in military fatigues is not the best idea when two countries are at war and you're in between, you know, since you factually don't belong to either and both will be suspicious of you.

Trees are all over the place out here, there is just a bit of a distance between areas of growth, and areas of sand. Just because he included a photo of the southwest desert, doesn't mean it's the sahara, or the gobi.
