Tell me, Kommandos, ia there an easy way to put a folding stock on a PAP M92 with a Sig Brace style arm brace? Looking to make something compact thats still technically a pistol so it can be transported loaded under my CCW permit.

what advantages do full-length rifles hold over bullpup rifles?
If the butstock of a firearm doesn't decrease the recoil at all, wouldn't it be just plain worse than a bullpup?
>>
>>35133412
>what advantages do full-length rifles hold over bullpup rifles?
It's not the barrel length so much as it's that bullpups have major ergonomic issues, poor performance at longer ranges, shitty iron sights and both the controls and trigger are linked (ie. instead of pulling a trigger and releasing the hammer/striker you pull the trigger and it moves another piece of metal which moves another piece of metal that moves ANOTHER piece of metal that releases the hammer/striker - this dramatically worsens the activity of the trigger). Pretty much the only advantage - at all - that bullpups offer over conventional configurations is a reduced OAL for the same barrel length, but why reinvent the wheel?

I have a Toz 17-01 rifle, I can't find anything on google about what units the rear sight are in, they start at 25 and go up in increments of 25 to 100 with two marks between each number. It was made after 1978 so I don't know if the Tula factory was still using Arshins then or not.

No one on here owns a PAP besides myself and maybe 3 others.

U.S. Machine Gun carries a folding stock adapter that attaches the same way a SB Tactical brace would (under the grip).

Here, OP.

http://www.usmachinegun.com/proddetail.php?prod=UPFLD-M92
Also, I highly recommend using this as your brace; way better than the big clunky braces. And it doesn't look like one of those gay "blade" braces.

hkg3/cetme
maybe a ak variant that comes in a sporting configuration. good luck finding mags

My friend claims that for home defense a .45 revolver is better than a 9mm pistol, because it's more reliable and less likely to over-penetrate and damage your own property or unintended targets. He has me pretty convinced, but if that's the case, why does the wiki focus mainly on 9mm? I get that they'll help you become a skilled shot before moving up to a bigger caliber if you're a beginner but I've seen very little mention of recommended revolvers beyond a used revolver guide infograph and a few tangential references.

>>35135426
Penetration is very similar between pistol rounds (9mm and .45 for instance), and any round that will reliably penetrate your target will penetrate a lot of drywall too, that's just how it is, so your friend is wrong there. 9mm is a good round because it's cheap, effective, easy to use, and available in many affordable high capacity automatic pistols. If you want a revolver, a .38 special/.357 magnum is your best bet, or a 9mm if you want to be a hipster.
>revolvers are more reliable
It's not that simple. Generally revolvers fail less often than automatics, but their failures tend to be serious and require tools or lots of time to fix. It's easier to induce a malfunction with a revolver if you aren't experienced, by fumbling a reload or short stroking the trigger. Still I'd suggest a revolver if you're too lazy to maintain and become proficient with an automatic.

I have a cz that was able to be carried cocked and locked without modification. I changed the trigger for a flat blade SAO because i wanted the improved shape. The ability to adjust dynamics, and have the gun be completely inert when uncocked is nice too as the stock guns safety couldn't be engaged while uncocked.

I'm trying to do some ballistics math, and I'm not sure how to calculate drag. I think I've got the correct formulas to get the drag coefficient and drag force:
>dragCoefficient = (2 * dragForce) / (airDensity * Math.Pow(projectileVelocity, 2) * projectileArea)
>dragForce = airDensity * Math.Pow(projectileVelocity, 2) * dragCoefficient * projectileArea;
but there's a circular dependency; I need to have one of these values before I can get the other. How do the ballistics calculators get around this?

Manageable with much higher pressure .357 magnum carbines, so with it's much lower pressure a revolver shotguns cylinder gap is a non issue. Plus the Alfa .357 carbine doesn't even have a little metal blast shield as seen on pic related, that would help too.

As long as it's not a component of the actual silencer then you're golden. Threaded barrels, adapters, thread protectors, etc. aren't controlled in any way.

>Water: 3 liters per person, per day.
>Food: 1000kcal per person per day.

Do the math for as many people as you have. I try to keep two weeks of nonperishable food that does not require cooking on tap. You can also stretch it with a 50 pound bag of white rice or a tub of oatmeal, but be aware both require cooking to eat.

In addition to that, a portable gas generator that can be run from a garage, some long extension cords to run power into important appliances, and gas is important. I'm actually a little light on gas at the moment, but I try to keep it to 35 gallons of gas. I swap the gas out every ~3 months. I personally want to up the number eventually to 70 gallons even though it seems a bit overkill.

Add a ton of flashlights, emergency battery stocks, rechargeable batteries and a solar charger, blankets, bleach (for cleaning or for adding small amounts to water to purify), some handheld radios, a local area and statewide map and a compass, shovels, large axe, gardening gloves, and fookin' rope. If you have a charcoal grill, keep a lot of charcoal on hand so you can use it to cook. Keep sterno and/or treated cotton balls to help make fire.

If you have pets, two weeks worth of all their food and supplies.

There's a lot more stuff, but those are the big house things that come to mind. I know it seems like a lot, but so many people underestimate how many resources they burn through on a regular basis, and I'd personally rather have too many stuff compared to not enough.

Of course, being lacquered the full range of Japanese lacquer work should have been possible to apply had they wanted, which should mean a wide range of colours, as well as various special variant like mother of pearl flakes, crushed eggshell and small gold flakes suspended in clear lacquer over a red base (all three being done on scabbards from time to time). An uneducated guess is that fashion generally preferred to put the colour in the lacing and then contrast that with a deep brown or black lacquered surface, with red (usually laced with deep blue) as the main exception.

If it doesn't interact with the weapon in any way, it's likely used for storage/transport somehow.

Slugs can deform a bit to squeeze through.
The barrel can deform a bit to let it out..

Store Clerk here. I work for a small retail outlet in the ghetto and we've had crazy crime rates going on here, so they decided to give me an old piece of shit pistol.

I can't even identify the thing to be honest, but anyway it's got a weird safety feature on it, where it retracts the firing pin away from the hammer, and would allow you to.. De-cock the hammer, by firing with a round chambered.

But, I'm just slightly terrified by the thought of this 1978 Lynyrd Skynyrd .38 special might not retract that pin reliably enough for me to actually pull that trigger, and carry it in that manner.

Any tips? Don't have a range or way to discharge and practice with weapon otherwise. It's illegal to fire in the city limits :(

It's obviously all relative. Compared to other automatic shotguns it's well priced, but not compared to really any other shotgun. Even if you disagree, clearly a shotgun costing, say, 1/2 as much would be even more reasonably priced, and at least as reliable. In other words, not an argument.

Do you guys store your ammo in cans or not? If you store them in cans do you store them in the original boxes or loose. Why or why not is one method better than the other?
>>
>>35149338
they work with the DPMS "commercial" style bcgs too, and unlike the SP1 carriers they have a modern shrouded firing pin
>>
>>35149506
I store loose boxes of ammo in ammo cans, but if I received a large shipment (like 500 rounds of Golden Tiger) and it was sealed in plastic wrap and inside a sturdy cardboard box, I'll just throw a few desiccant packs in and tie the plastic up. Once most of the ammo is used up, I'll toss the rest into one of my ammo cans if there is space.

As a Floridian, storing loose ammo is beyond stupid, but at the same time there's no reason to go out and buy ammo cans when the box that the ammo came in is usually sufficient for storage.

Nope.
For obvious reasons, a .45 ACP revolver is necessarily about the same size and weight as a .44 Mag.
Assuming you don't feel like trying to CC an N-frame, your next-best option for a .4x cal revolver in CA would be a S&W 69 loaded with .44 Spl; both bbl lengths are on the roster, and .44 Spl will give similar terminal performance to .45 ACP.

What do you look for when you're fishing for a range that rents?

I want to try firing guns before I buy one, but as far as I can figure there aren't any ranges within 50 miles of me, and those that are are extremely basic; most requiring a membership to even go in.

More directly, I'm not looking to buy a gun before I've even fired one, but I can't find anywhere that lets you try them, and I don't have any friends that own firearms. As such a rental range seems like the obvious answer, but what I've found on google doesn't look very promising.

Just finished cleaning my dads Remington woodmaster 742. Put it back together after much sweat and tears and now I have this leftover. What did I fuck up and where does it go?

I tried a friend's Glock 17 Gen 3 and Glock 22 Gen 4 this past weekend. Surprisingly, I had better groupings with the .40 cal. Do I just suck or does the Gen 4 make that much of a difference?
>>
>>35158598
.4x handgun calibers are well-known for their superior accuracy.
Also, the recoil of the .40 was probably forcing you to be less sloppy with your grip.

Forgive me if This is too retarded of a question

But would a flintlock (45 inch .69" caliber) rifle be lethal at point blank? Or doesn't it take a while after it has left the barrel to reach peak velocity?
>>
>>35160491
There's only one gun where the bullet keeps accelerating after it leaves the barrel, and a flintlock isn't it.
>>
>>35135774
Pump shotguns are generally geared towards home defense or sometimes more casual hunters, so they're made of cheaper materials and really only contain the basics that make the thing work.
Nobody except sportsmen buy double barrel shotguns anymore, so they have to focus on pleasing the more niche market. This means higher quality materials, often fine engraving and checkering, well-fitted barrels, and weight balance, resulting in a more expensive gun.

I just got an M77, if you can manage to get lucky like I did and find one for the price they went for before the imports stopped then I think they're a decent choice. The adjustable gas system is a nice bonus, and it can be suprisingly light recoiling depending on how you set it. My only complaint is that the polymer thumbhole stock it comes with is absolutely dogshit.

Guys, help me on this
i remember a couple years back seeing a picture of a suppressed long range rifle but instead of qd mount or unscrewing it, you folded it to the side
my question is, would you be able to permanently weld/attach a folding mechanism that would basically fold, lets say 6 inches, off of the front of the barrel
wouldnt it be technically classified as a 16 inch barrel since its all welded but with a hinge
>tl;dr will a 16 inch barrel with a welded hinge in the middle be classified as an sbr or no?
>>
>>35163004
by "qd mount" and "unscrewing it" i was referring to a suppressor
was just too exited typing this out
>>
>>35163004
It sounds like you mean a permanent barrel extension that folds to one side where the actual barrel ends? I would assume it would still be classified as an SBR since most length definitions for firearms clarify something like minimum achievable length
>>
>>35163024
i mean if you get a 10 inch AR-15 barrel then weld on a hinge to the end of that, THEN add a 6 inch barrel extension that is welded on to that foldable hinge mechanism. wouldnt it technically be considered a 16 inch barrel when fully extended (similar to OAL requirements) because the ATF says that the barrel needs to be 16 inches in length but they didnt specify whether the barrel had to be in a certain shape or not.
it would be a possible work around to states that dont allow sbr's
>>
>>35163054
That's what I thought you were saying, so still an SBR, since most lengths with firearms restrictions use the minimum possible length you can configure it into, for example, a firearm with a folding stock will be measured with the stock folded
>>
>>35163071
that means that my yugo ak with the stock folded has an overall length of 25in, with a 16in barrel, hence making it illega-... the atf measures OAL with the stock fully open, im 99.9% on that

Federal law measures with the stock unfolded, I should've been clearer. I was referring to how states like California handle it, and assumed since you were trying to skirt state SBR restrictions you lived there, my bad.

I live in a state that only allows 10 round mags. Since the biggest advantage of a 9mm I've seen is the additional capacity should I be looking into larger calibers for a carry gun? Can anyone suggest something?
>>
>>35163071
But that's fucking wrong.
>>
>>35163396
Many people in mag cap states carry .45s or revolvers for that exact reason, although if you prefer the shooting characteristics of 9mm you don't have to be one of them.

Is it worth it and how hard will a original looking stock be to find?

so I'm fixing an ar10 a friend of a friend bought. I can't take the cam out of the bolt carrier Because the gas key is in the way, the cam has an oversized top that just barely is in the way. it looks like it came from the manufacturer like this because the key bolts are staked perfectly on both sides, it wasn't done by Cletus in his garage. is this normal for ar10s or is it a shitty bolt or what?

when people say automatic does it mean semi or full
>>
>>35165893
Depends.
>>
>>35165893
Automatic handguns and shotguns are semi-auto. Automatic rifles are full auto.

No, I don't know why the convention split. Probably because semi auto handguns and shotguns used to be so rare, and true full auto ones weren't really a thing.
>>
How do L frame revolvers compare in size to full size automatic pistols, like the CZ 75 or 1911?
>>
>>35165948
I'm only guessing but I think in regards to pistols it's called "automatic" because they "automatically" chamber a round on their own after firing as opposed to a revolver which is based on cocking the hammer.
>>
>>35165996
It's almost as if they are categorized as semi automatic for a reason.
>>
>>35165948
"Automatic" means "self-loading". There is no implication whatsoever of automatic fire.
>>
>>35141019
don't do that ffs. The garand has a sensitive gas system. You need ammo marked 'Garand safe' 30-06 because of the power of 1940s era powder compared to modern stuff. Unless maybe you have an adjustable gas plug.
>>
>>35166103
When somebody says in casual conversation that a rifle is automatic, it usually means full auto.

I'm talking about how normal humans speak, not how people nitpick online.

Most people I talk with IRL just call them silencers. It's the internet fedora tippers that push "suppressor".

Same internet people that throw a fucking shitfit of autism when somebody says ACU to refer to UCP. I know the difference and use it online to avoid nonsense, but I have literally never heard a person say UCP out loud. It's always ACU and everybody knows what they mean because humans can into contextual clues.
