Me saging this shit thread.
>>
>>35130690
So I take it you don't like discussing old german weapons? That's a shame.
>>
>>35130677
How exactly did you win this? It looks like something off google images
>>
>>35130677

Yeah OP post some real pics.
>>
>>35130677
Not a red 9?
>>
Sell it if you don't appreciate it - someone else will.
>>
>>35130677

You have just entered the world of DL-44 replica modification!

>What did I get myself into?

A money pit. There's no such thing as a cheap Porsche, and the same hold true for the C96.
>>
>>35131222
You're no better than a fudd
>>
>>35131414

Can a Fudd make the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs? NO? Thought so.

This is the gun's future! :)
>>
>>35130677
9mm or that weird 7.63 mauser?
>>
>>35131474
7.63 mauser
>>
>>35131338

What's the bore look like? Any rifling left at all?
>>
>>35130677
A puzzlebox that also happens to shoot bullets
>>
>>35131381
>.30 Mauser is readily had for .45 ACP prices
Are you just dumb?
>>
>>35131519
Yeah rifling is in great condition, just needs a good cleaning before shooting it.
>>
>>35130677
A fun as shit, flat-shooting piece of history that shoots a huge fireball every time and can be shot surprisingly cheap. And despite what all the memers will says, it's not even hard to detail strip. Just check the bolt stop and make sure it's in good condition.

>>35131381
Maybe for a poor nigger like yourself, people who work at places above WalMart can afford to drop 33 cents a pop on ammo and spend ~$1500 on a gun.
>>
>>35130677
DO NOT SHOOK 7.62 TOKAREV WITH IT
I had to say that just in case you were a dumb nigger.
I would hate to see a piece of history blow up.
>>
>>35130677
Are you going to tell us how you won this?
Did someone lose a bet or something?

Old Photo, I have 3 C-96s now, and they are all great.

Ammo is cheap, clips are easy to find. shoots kinda wonky real high bore over axis so a lot of jump, accurate, bites your hand if you grip too high.

Buy Privipartisan ammo, have a nice day
>>
>>35130677
That's a Bolo, fucknuts
>>

Tokarev is the lighter loaded cartridge.
Soviets downloaded the Mauser they were producing under license and called it Tok.
Any handgun that can't handle the Tok. shouldn't be fired to start with.

Do the serials match OP?

If so what is the serial? We can look up the age that way. I got mine for 1500 and the serials say it's 1897 with a replacement hammer.
>>
>>35131887
I am sorry to say sir, That if gun in pic is supposed to be from 97 then you were lied to. there are other distinguishing elements of early c96s besides the hammer or receiver milling pattern. ill get a pic in a second
>>
>>35131701

Congrats OP I kinda want one myself I love older firearms.
>>
>>35131887
There is no way that thing is a 1897 production.

yours looks like a pre-war commercial from the stable production period. Image is of an Italian Slab side the first big sale of c96s by contract, the circled area is noticeably different then pre war commercials which incorporated a longer support guide.

lol enjoy ur kabooms
>>
>>35132005
what number under rear sight?
>>
>>35132023
Maybe actually do research instead of spouting fuddlore.
The specs for Russian and German ammo are fairly widely available for reading.
>>
>>35132005
There are estimated to have been around 1,000,000 Mauser-produced broomhandles, so your 350k+ serial puts it well beyond 1897 production. In fact it places it potentially in Wartime Commercial territory, if not tail-end PreWar Commercial (where mine resides at 314k).
>>
>>35132060
I believe it's wartime commercial. Everything in matching on it though.
>>
>>35132042
Everything you said flies in the face of long established fact. Even when 7.62 tokarev wasn't hotter than 7.63 it was literally equal in all but name, and that only applied to pre ww2 loads that you can't even get anymore
>>
>>35132042
>widely available for reading
>doesn't even copy pasta

from wikipedia
Although the case dimensions of the two cartridges are nearly identical, the 7.62mm Tokarev has a stronger powder charge and is generally not suited for use in Mauser C96 pistols or other firearms chambered for 7.63mm Mauser...
...While the 7.62×25 Tokarev round is the same diameter bullet (0.308/7.62mm) as the 7.63×25 and will chamber in those firearms, due to the higher pressure of the 7.62×25 Tokarev ammunition, it is dangerous to use in firearms designed for the older 7.63×25 (.30 Mauser).

I know (((wikipedia))) isn't a great source but it's better than yours, seeing you provided none.

>>35132060
S.No. 119442 Sight No.631 mine was made in 1908 I bought it from joe Schroder, the man who wrote the book on the C96. It is also important to note Early on Mauser inflated his numbers to make it look like more guns were selling, he then back filled the old S.No.s
>>
>>35131887
if it is from 97 it should have a type 1 extractor, and 34 grooves in the grip S.No. should be 35k to 38k
>>
>>35132115
>>35132108
Standard loadings are listed in
Aльбoм кoнcтpyкций пaтpoнoв cтpeлкoвoгo и кpyпнoкaлибepнoгo aвтoмaтичecкoгo opyжия (oт 6,5 дo 37 мм)

On paper, Tokarev is slightly hotter, but not enough to make a difference in the real world.

I wasn't going off of anybody's word, I just plugged the serial into some websites supposedly keeping records of that kind of thing.

Mine is 7776 incidentally.

>>35132569
Unless you have an early extractor I'm calling BS
>>

The answer is a Fucking Classic...

just shoot the tokarev ammo. for all intents and purposes they're similar enough 99.5% of the time
>>
>Canada

Since our laws are fucked, and since it's an antique handgun you could can shoot it anywhere and don't need a license either

Something rad, congrats!
Red-9 = one of my dream guns
