Would it be worth moving to Arizona for the gun laws? I'm a dental student in NC and have spent my entire life here, would it be worth the move for extra freedoms?
>>
Just give it a try, I'm sure people in Arizona need their teeth cleaned.
>>
>>35129501
Nope. AZ here. 25, never had a cavity, perfect dental hygiene.

I use Hoppe's #9 as mouthwash.

It's super effective.
>>
>would it be worth the move for extra freedoms?
Can you enumerate the extra freedoms, and which ones you would utilise?

If not, it's not worth it.
>>
Great profession for AZ
The high mineral content of AZ water
Rots teeth pretty good.

From California? Yes. From North Carolina? Literally fucking why?

The only thing different is pistol purchase permits and no cc permit.

Where in nc do you live?
>>

>pistol purchase permits

Da fuk?

Sometimes I take it for granted that I live in AZ and don't have to deal with this bullshit.

Shit nigga I'm a dental student here at Midwestern. Let me just warn you that the valley is SUPER saturated with dentists, but rural areas have almost no one. There's actually a state program that forgives something like 50k worth of loans if you work in a rural area for some time. I know a guy on the Rez right now just for that.
>>
>>35129935
It's a leftover from the Jim Crow days as a way to keep blacks from buying pistols. Royal pain in the ass. Basically you go the Sheriff's office in your county, pay them $5, and they give you a piece of paper that says you can buy a pistol. You can buy multiple ones at a time if I recall correctly, so it's basically a $5 tax on pistol sales.

CCW permit holders can skip them. Since it's about the same amount of effort to get your CCW as it is to get a pistol purchase permit (in terms of going to the Sheriff's office), a lot of people just get their CCW instead.
>>
I live in RI. Tired of the high taxes and shitty roads. No way I'm staying in this state for another 10 yrs.

Arizona is under serious consideration to build a homestead.

Questions:
>is property upkeep in the desert a bitch?
>what is there to do besides hike and shoot?
>any good restaurants? (I like good food, what's the local cuisine?)
>are the people alright?
>>
>>35129471

Kentucky is a lot closer, homie.
>>
>>35130211
>>is property upkeep in the desert a bitch?
It's a desert. If you keep animals, just make sure you keep the coyotes out. Gives you an excuse to buy a cheap workhorse AR
>>what is there to do besides hike and shoot?
Camp in the woods at Flagstaff, go racing/autoX at Firebird, drive up a bit to Vegas, drive to LA to do fun things there, kill coyotes
>>any good restaurants? (I like good food, what's the local cuisine?)
Good, cheap mexican food, and a lot of new hip restaurants opening up to accommodate the hipsters moving here for the tech jobs
>>are the people alright?
So I'm from Chicago (yeah yeah I know), and people are so outright friendly here compared to home it's weird. Road rage is pretty shitty, but encountering most people out and about has been a generally positive experience for me.
>>
AZ is bar none my favorite state coming from Cali and now living in the midwest

>>
>>35130368
Sure, and if you look at an electoral map by county, you'll see that about 75% of New York and California are red, too. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean much. I feel bad for people in Utica or Redding for having to live under the thumb of San Francisco and Manhattan, but that's how the system works. If Charlotte and Raleigh keep filling up with liberals, it'll be the same in NC, too.

I went to your restaurant rather late and bought a loaf of Sesame Challah Bread. I gave it to my husband to enjoy with a bit of honey which he loves as a dessert. When he took his first taste, he immediately told me that the bread was not fresh. He closed up the loaf in its packaging and placed it on the counter. I checked for an expiration date and it had none which is unusual since your packaged goods usually have a date.

Next morning at about 7:30 am, I went to your restaurant to exchange the loaf. I explained the situation to an older gentleman at which point he became very annoyed. He put his hands on the loaf and said to me " It feels fresh to me". I could have given him a sarcastic answer such as "Then, you eat it." but I bit my tongue out of respect. I would have gladly done an exchange but his behavior prompted me to get a refund instead.
He began to write up a slip with my name and phone number, throwing the pen toward the cash register when the ink in the pen wasn't flowing fast enough for him---throwing a virtual tantrum.
I am a long time customer of Chompie's. I shop there every other day for danishes and baked goods. Why would I be treated like this? So nasty. I hope he is not one of the owners because it doesn't bode well for the restaurant.
I suggest that you treat your customers with respect even if they have a complaint.

Eh. There's not that much different. Gun ownership is easier here than anywhere else but not a lot of places to shoot.

-High heat
-Not much to do
-Too many spics
-Anywhere that isn't Phoenix Metro or Flagstaff is too dangerous due to us being the route the cartels take to LA
-Most basic bitches I have ever laid my eyes on
-Self-defense laws could be better, no "make my day" laws
-Slow Cali liberal invasion
-Normie as fuck
-Pretty active car culture though
-I hope you didn't have any fantasies of finding a woman online that lives in Arizona because there aren't any

Move to Flagstaff.

Hmmm....I can tell you this, lots of Japanese like to visit here. I used to work at Barnes and Noble in Kierland commons (when it existed) and would see a lot of foreign tourists a number of them Japanese.

Some of them took a liking to this area and even own a second home here.

Also it was common to see Japanese tourists go to Scottsdale Gun Club to experience freedom. Weather wise, I guess it's a nice alternative to what they have.

The Japanese presence isn't that high here in Phoenix, it's not like Arlington Heights in Chicago. All in all I'm just glad I have a place to get cheap authentic bento for less than five bucks that's also next to a very decently priced gun shop.

Arizona is the last gem of the west. Having lived here for 25 years i can tell you that its a great state. 3 hours from rocky points, 6 from LA beaches. 2 hours north of phx you can ski and get out of the heat. The mexicans arent even bad. Stay away from the reservations if you feel threatened, its not hard. Theres swimming, fishing, camping, hunting and anything else you would ever care to do outside. Car culture is big. Lots of gun clubs and communities you can join. If you dont like it, the market is good enough to make a profit and move on to somewhere else. Everyone that complains about the heat is ridiculous. Its only bad for about 4 months and then its perfect out again. Up north is beautiful, Prescott and Flag are both great little towns if you want to open a practice or get hired on. Worst comes to worst your only 2 hours from the big city and its an easy drive to get down there. People that rag on this state either spent time in the wrong part, spent their time poorly or never spent time here to begin with. Welcome to AZ.
>>
>>35130400

We get way too many dumbasses who do 55 out of 65 on the I-10 in the left lane or HOV lane.

Then you got fuckers who will try to bypass a line of traffic and stop in the middle of a highway to get into their lane. For example the 60 when it splits to Tucson: there will be an entire line of traffic back to Priest, guy says fuck that and drives all the way passed the dotted lines, then stop and wait until he can force himself into the lane, while traffic behind him going onto Phoenix has to slam on their brakes to avoid a collision.

Also jaywalkers everywhere. Cops don't give a fuck, they'll do that right in front of them in Mesa.

There's a wreck everyday on the 10, so you can usually expect delays or full on traffic jams depending on the time of day.

I moved from the Charlotte area to Phoenix a few years back for work. It definitely takes some getting used to. I work nights so the heat isn't quite as bad.
Gun culture is about as active in both states. It's easier to find ranges here than it was in Charlotte.
Camping is harder compared to the Appalachians, can't just bring a water filter and hammock.
You can ride a motorcycle all year round though which is a huge plus.
Restaurants aren't too bad, decent Asian and lots of Mexican. Not a ton of stuff open really late.
One you get used to how dry it is it'll be hard to ever go back to humidity. I'm happy with the move overall. If you don't live guns and cars you might get bored though.

I feel devastated looking at real estate sites. The two ZIPCodes I lived in are now impossibly expensive. In the 90s, a GOOD house was $120-180k. Those same houses are more than halfway to $1m now without improvements. You're paying a premium because your mail routes through the Scottsdale post office, even though you still live in Phoenix, so you still get to brag to your rich buddies, "yeah, I live in Scottsdale." Some of the friends I still keep in touch with are telling me the same horror I'm seeing that most people coming in are snapping up "cheap" AZ houses, demolishing them, building new on the slab, and calling it an improvement. Gone are the southwestern terra cotta tile and adobe, in are the new modern couture homes that look more in line with Seattle, Austin, and San Francisco. Sadly, I can blame my Dad for part of it. He was in charge of annexations and expansion with Scottsdale in the 70s and 80s and put them on the path to being Beverly Hills Lite. Such a shame.
>>
>>35137137
It's not just that, there are only 130-150 houses in phoenix on the market at any given time in the 350kish price range. Alot of whats buying is out of staters who want an investment/second home or investment groups who rent them. Couple that with the neo silicone valley shit from intel and amazon plus the weaponkzed 'dreamers' and we are going blue soon enough.

europoor alps hiker here: do you americans really go hiking in full gear with weapons? it sure looks cool but what do you use them for? theres not much to shoot I imagine, its not a war, but I'm missing something clearly

Not that dude, but I never do. I did it in the military and didn't care for it. I also don't post pictures of myself on the internet. If I was worried about bears I'd carry something but that's a different case.

Go to Texas, Arizona has cool gun laws, but it's just a shitty desert at the end of the day.

Reading all these posts complaining about Calfornians is nourishing me.

As a Californian we've been dealing with your leftovers for decades. Let me ask...how does it feel?

Currently closing on a few rental properties in Socal which will fund my life in AZ. I literally shake with giddiness when I think of cutting off rednecks in my SUV with California plates.
>>
>>35138490
Sometimes people like to hunt here. Other times there are mountain lions or other animals that might attack you. Then there are times that someone (or a group of people) will try to kill you because no one else is there to witness it or help you and they can get away with it.

Even when hiking you should have some kind of gun.

My family first moved to Arizona when I was 9. I hated it at first, and we ended up moving out of state again when I was 12. Then we moved back when I was 14. Didn't hate it any more, but didn't think it was great either. I moved myself out of state, lived in a handful of other places. Ended up moving back at 23 and now realize it's probably one of the best places you could live in the US. I'll always keep a residence here, even if I only live here part time like a lot of the wealthier residents.

>>35138490

You can, and you'll find fun things to shoot at here and there like rocks and the occasional nasty animal or insect.

It's definitely not out of necessity, mostly just because you can. It's also a good way to just practice lugging all your gear around so you don't collapse in a wheezy heap if there's ever a real need (not that that's very likely either). Honestly, it also just feels good to be armed in the wilds.

>>35138587

Can't wait to brake check you and cause you to rear end my vehicle, at which point I'll rake your insurance company over the coals and sue you for personal damages.

>I literally shake with giddiness when I think of cutting off rednecks in my SUV with California plates
I lived in downtown LA for 18 years and I can tell you that people in Phoenix drive worse, and the traffic is about as bad.

Still, the place is nice and so far I'm loving it here.
>>
>>35132967

Haha I can't believe there are retards that believe this shit in my state.

I've lived here for a decade and the "cartels" are basic bitch fuccbois on this side of the border, no matter how much money they have in their third world country.
>>
>>35130788

How long have you been gone? Democrats won NJ's 5th congressional district, which spans the northernmost section of the state. There's not much red here in BC.
>>
>>35139071
Coming from most likely a Scottsdale fuckboi, why don't you drive down to south Phoenix and start shit talking the cartel and see what happens.
>>
>>35138565

Arizonan living in Texas. I can tell you right now the sad irony of our situation is that there are NO publicly accessible gun ranges except in the bigger cities. Almost everybody I know either has arrangements with friends or family to shoot on their land (rural areas) or ranges that aren't in cities are very exclusive and you pretty much have to know a guy to even get let in, then pay membership dues AND be a paid member at a gun club. It sucks.

Thats pretty much half the year that you have to crank the AC all day every day and god help you if you work outdoors.

Luckily the traffic is nowhere near as bad as other big cities save for rush hour and schoolday mornings. Everyone does 50MPH at least in every street so you can just coast past all the green lights like you're in the fucking freeway.

I'm amazed how fucking much organizations here get away with supporting the "Dreamers" considering we were one of the only major metropolises that went Red.
